TheEshos Shrineis a combat training shrine located in the West Necluda region inThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Unlike other shrines focused on solving puzzles using Link’s special abilities, such as Ultrahand, its purpose is to teach Link basic combat skills needed to defeat enemies efficiently. Here’s what players need to do to clear the Eshos Shrine inTears of the Kingdom.

Eshos Shrine Location
TheEshos Shrineis found atcoordinates 1566, -1944, 0157in the West Necluda region. The shrine is located directly south of theSahasra Slope Skyview Tower, making the tower an excellent fast-travel point for Link to use his paraglider to reach the shrine.
Eshos Shrine Walkthrough
The shrine focuses primarily on shield usage, specifically theirdeflectionfunctionality, which allows Link to send back enemy projectiles. In addition to teaching projectile deflection, the Eshos Shrine also emphasizes usingthe right shieldfor deflecting specific projectiles.
If the player lacks shields upon entering the shrine, they need not worry. Inside the main chamber, there’s a small weapon rack on the left offering bothOld Wooden ShieldsandRusty Shieldsfor this challenge.
In this combat training shrine, Link faces two construct enemies. The first one emerges when Link approaches the center of the room and will shoot fireballs at him. Link mustdeflect a fireballby equipping a shield with the ZL button and pressing A when the projectile connects with the shield. This will send it back toward the enemy and defeat it instantly.

The second challenge introduces a second construct. The construct on the left continues shooting fireballs, while the new construct on the right shoots lightning projectiles. This challenge aims to teach Link about considering the elemental properties of enemy attacks and how they affect him. Link can switch targets by facing either enemy and pressing theZL trigger.
If the player has a Zonai shield, they can easily deflect both projectiles with that shield alone to clear the shrine. Otherwise, they must be careful in selecting the appropriate shield for each construct’s projectile:
Once both enemies are defeated, the door to the end of the shrine will open. Inside, Link can find a treasure chest containing aMighty Zonaite Shield, which offers 50 Defense and enhances the efficiency of attachedZonai devices.
Despite its simplicity and intention of teaching a basic combat mechanic, the Eshos Shrine is located rather far fromTears of the Kingdom’s main early game hub, Lookout Landing. Players will likely be familiar with shields and their uses by the point they reach this shrine, making the challenge somewhat unnecessary and overly simplistic. Nonetheless, it’s an easy shrine that Link can quickly clear to earn a Light of Blessing.
