AYouTubecontent creator was arrested for crashing a plane. Trevor Jacob is best known for his adrenaline-pumpingYouTubevideos, where he’s done terrifying stunts like snowboard jumping near a freight train and hitchhiking in a semi truck. He’s gotten into some form of trouble for his stunts in the past, and the plane incident is the latest among his string of court cases.

In the video titled “I Crashed My Airplane,” Jacob filmed himself panicking as his plane’s engine seemingly malfunctioned while he was flying above a mountain range. He then jumped out with a parachute as theplane crashed down, and continued shooting as he hiked to the crash site and had a drink by a stream. This later prompted a federal investigation into Jacob’s involvement in the incident, which revealed that the YouTuber went on a solo flight in November 2021 from Lompoc City Airport headed to Mammoth Lakes, but admitted that he didn’t plan on reaching his destination. Instead, he purposefully crashed the plane for his video, as evidenced by the several video cameras he attached to the vehicle prior to taking off. He also allegedly lied to federal officers about the location of the wreckage, and attempted to destroy the remaining debris.

According to a statement released by the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of California, Jacob pleaded guilty to a felony charge for obstructing a federal investigation by deliberately destroying the wreckage of the airplane that he intentionally crashed to gain views. His pilot license was also revoked by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in April last year. A plea agreement was filed in the United States District Court in Los Angeles, and he is expected to appear in court in the coming weeks. If found guilty, Jacob might face a maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison, potentially joining the list ofYouTubers who have been to prison.

As of writing, Jacob’s YouTube video has been receiving many angry comments from people who heard about his arrest. The majority of them expressed their disappointment towards his actions, criticizing him for potentially putting others in danger just to garner millions of views.

It’s not unusual to see wild stunts posted on YouTube, but sometimes they lead to trouble because of how careless some creators can be toward others for the sake of clicks. For instance, aTwitch streamer was banned after accidentally shooting a crossbowat his camera man. It just shows that some actions have serious consequences, and Jacob’s arrest is no different.
