While years of Twitch moderation have shown that the streaming platform may not always consistently apply its rules, at the very least it’s willing to ban celebrities and top streamers. The latest example is retiredWWEsuperstarPaige. Paige’s Twitch account SarayaOfficial was confirmed to be banned Thursday evening. No official comment on the matter has come from either Paige or Twitch as of yet, leaving fans in the dark about the situation.

Twitch officially doesn’t comment on issues of moderation publicly. Even the moderation summaries typically sent to Twitch streamers after they’ve been banned don’t offer a robust explanation for why they’ve been banned. However, viewers ofPaige’s Twitch streambelieve they know why she was punished. The former professional wrestler was apparently live streaming the filmDumb & Dumberon her channel, resulting in what could have been a DMCA on her channel from the movie’s rights holder.

Without Paige addressing the matter publicly, there’s no way to tell what the duration of her ban will be. This is the SarayaOfficial Twitch account’s first ban, which historically means that it’s temporary and brief. In fact, it could end up being anywhere from 1-3 days. However, playing copyrighted material andreceiving an official DMCAcould mean more severe consequences. Twitch and its partners do not want copyrighted material being played on the platform. Regardless, fans will have to wait and see.

One positive detail to note is that fans have been able to scrapeTwitch’s public databasesand see the status of Paige’s account. While the account is banned, it also retains its partner status. If Paige had been permanently banned, her Twitch partner ranking would have been removed. That implies that Paige’s Twitch channel will be back eventually, though by no means is that official confirmation.

Twitch has a system for streaming and watching movies live called Watch Parties. It’s limited to just movies and TV shows that are available via Amazon Prime or Prime Video, since Twitch is an Amazon subsidiary.Dumb & Dumberis not available on these services, however. It’s unclear why Paige chose to streamDumb & Dumber, though clearly she thought it wouldn’t lead to her channel being banned.

All fans of Paige’s Twitch stream can do is wait. Either an update from Paige will be coming soon or the ban will go away and Paige will return tostreaming on Twitch regularly. Either way,Paige’s movie night is probably going to go on hiatus.
