World of Warcraftis rolling out its alpha testing in preparation forDragonflight’slaunch before the end of the year. However, some content in a newDragonflightalpha dungeon might give some hints as to the big bad of theWorld of Warcraftexpansion.Warning: Spoilers forWorld of Warcraft: Dragonflightbelow.

During the dungeon, players encounter forces belonging to the Infinite dragonflight, a rogue faction of former bronze dragons who seek to change history. The end boss, Chrono-Lord Delos, is one of these renegade dragons who seeks to stop players from claiming a powerful artifact that can restore thepower of the Dragon Aspects inWorld of Warcraft. After he is defeated, Delos delivers a cryptic line foretelling the fall of the Aspects, save one: Murozond, Lord of the Infinite.

World of Warcraftfans who played duringCataclysmmay recognize Murozond as the leader of the Infinite dragonflight. During the End Times dungeon, it was revealed that Murozond was none other than a future version of Nozdormu, Aspect of the time-walking bronze dragons. Though Murozond was ultimately defeated in that future timeline, it seems he may have a major role to play in the expansion, though the exact scope of which is uncertain.

Because the bronze and Infinite dragons can manipulate time, just about anything is possible when they get involved inWorld of Warcraft. It is possible players might see the Nozdormu from our timeline fall into madness and become Murozond, or the timelines themselves may converge. Many players wonder if they will go back in time to the dawn of the Aspects to face Galakrond himself—doubly so because of his importance to the antagonistic Primalists and a recentWorld of Warcraftmap of the Dragonblight that was dataminedwithout the massive proto-drake’s skeleton.

World of Warcraftplayers are intrigued by this development inDragonflight. Blizzard has been vague as to who the final boss ofDragonflightwould be, but said it may become clear over the course of the story. While many suspected the Infinite dragonflight would make a reappearance, Delos and his followers sparked a whole new strain of speculation. Players won’t have to wait long to see what villainsWorld of Warcrafthas in store for them inDragonflightand beyond.

World of Warcraftis available now on PC. TheDragonflightexpansion plans to launch later this year.
