Just last month, Gearbox Software releasedBorderlands 3’sthird DLC calledBounty of Blood: A Fistful of Redemption. Similar to the previous story expansions that came before it, Bounty of Blood introduced new gameplay objects, a new story, new missions, and a level cap increase. However, as previously mentioned inBorderlands 3’s Season Pass, the game is still set to receive another DLC expansion by the end of the year.
So what should players expect inBorderlands 3’supcoming DLC? Unfortunately, Gearbox still hasn’t released that much information about the next content expansion. However, the studio released a teaser photo for DLC 4, which seems to suggest that Krieg will be returning toBorderlands 3. Up until this point, that is the only official information released for DLC 4. But the question now is who is Krieg, and what will his return mean forBorderlands 3?

The Return of Krieg
To the uninitiated, Krieg was first introduced to the franchise in a DLC forBorderlands 2as one of two Vault Hunters added to the game. Players were introduced to Krieg as he wondered around Pandora’s wasteland, eliminating enemies with his buzz ax.
InBorderlands 2, Krieg gained popularity thanks to a short video titled A Meat Bicycle Built For Two, which focused on him and Maya. However, after Krieg’s stint inBorderlands 2,fans wondered what happened to him since then. Luckily for fans,Borderlands 3’supcoming DLC 4 will likely revolve around the character of Krieg, but due to the lack of any official information, the extent of his involvement in the upcoming story expansion remains a mystery.

What Krieg’s Return Could Mean for DLC 4?
The most interesting thing aboutKrieg is that he is a Psychoand he suffers from a dissociative disorder. This means that Krieg has two sides to him, one being kind and gentle, while the other sees his violent side that is full of rage. Interestingly enough, the teaser photo that Gearbox released as a snippet of what to expect during Krieg’s return appears to symbolize his split personality.
It is still unknown how Krieg developed his split personality, but ifDLC 4 would indeed focus on his story, then it is likely that Gearbox will finally provide players with more insight as to how Krieg came to be. Circling back to the teaser photo symbolizing his split personality, it is likely that the DLC would focus on his return to his normal self. On the other hand, it is also interesting to see how Krieg will react to the death of Maya, given that it is likely that he will not take her death well that could even push him to the brink of totally losing control.

When is DLC 4’s Release Date?
Currently, Gearbox still hasn’t released a specific release date forBorderlands 3’sDLC 4. However, given that Bounty of Blood was just released last month, it is likely that the next and final DLC won’t be releasing anytime soon. However, it is worth knowing thatBorderlands 3’sfirst DLC was released in December 2019, DLC 2 in March, and DLC 3 last June. Given this, it is apparent thatGearbox is spacing out its major content expansionsby three months, and if the studio won’t encounter any major delays, then players can expect to see DLC 4 sometime in September.
Of course, apart from the possible exploration of Krieg’s story, DLC 4 will likely introduce new elements inBorderlands 3such as new weapons, quests, missions, legendary items, and maybe even a level cap increase and additional skills. However, for those wondering if there will be more major content updates after DLC 4, it is worth knowing that Gearbox only has four major expansions planned forBorderlands 3,at least for this year.
Borderlands 3is out now for the PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
