What New Features Could be Coming in Hogwarts Legacy’s Fall 2024 Update?

A recentchange detected in the code ofHogwarts Legacyindicates new content may be on the way for a Fall 2024 release, but this is currently unconfirmed. With a sequel almost an inevitability after the first game’s record-setting performance, this might just be Avalanche Software’s swan song for the title before moving on to the next game in the series.

That said, it’s important to be realistic about what might be coming to the game. It’s already chock-full of content as it is, andHogwarts Legacywas never intended as a live-service gamewith endless updates. But even with tempered expectations, there are a few things that might make it into the update.

Possible Additions in a Fall 2024 Update for Hogwarts Legacy

Some of the Most Likely and Unlikely Additions in the Fall Update

Fans have wanted aNew Game Plus forHogwarts Legacysince launch, and it would far and away be the most realistic expectation for a final update. Allowing players to restart their game with a fully kitted-out character would be a very enticing way to get old players returning to the game for one last hurrah before the sequel comes out, and it should be relatively easy to implement from a development perspective. Some might argue giving the player every upgrade at the start of the game might make the experience trivially easy, butHogwarts Legacywasn’t a particularly hard game to begin with and there’s always something to be said for indulging in a little power fantasy in games.

It’s also possible the new update could add new spells, cosmetic items, or brooms toHogwarts Legacy. Brooms and cosmetics are likely the easiest items for the devs to create and are only limited by the team’s imagination. It’s hard to say for sure what these items would be, but more house-based outfits are always a welcome addition, as some of the best cosmetics in the game allow players to represent their chosen house.

New spells would be a little more tricky to develop, and maybe less realistic to expect in an update, but there’s no denying they’d be welcome additions. Most of the iconic spells from theHarry Potteruniverseare already in the game, but there are a select few deep cuts that would be cool to see make it intoHogwarts Legacybefore it’s abandoned for a sequel, including:

The coolest, but least likely, addition to the game would bean explorable Chamber of Secrets.Hogwarts Legacy’s main selling point is its status as the definitive Hogwarts exploration simulator, and the Chamber is one of the most iconic locations in the castle. Without it, the experience can feel ever so slightly incomplete. While no Potterhead worth their salt would deny a chance to poke around down there, the considerable development time required to create a new environment, combined with the extensive lore baggage associated with accessing the Chamber means it’s unlikely to appear inHogwarts Legacy, final update or otherwise. It could, however, always appear as a selling point for a potential sequel.
