A bizarre bug with one of the maps in Blizzard’s hero shooterOverwatch 2found one player winding up dead the instant they left the spawn point. The popular free-to-play title recently received a major overhaul with thestart ofOverwatch 2Season 4, which saw the arrival of new hero Lifeweaver alongside a slew of gameplay changes.

Originally announced at BlizzCon 2019 following the staggering success of Blizzard’s first foray into first-person shooters,Overwatch 2was initially met with a mixed reception by many gamers. While the move to a free-to-play model was lauded by some, some fans of the originalOverwatchwere frustrated with what they deemed as an overabundance of microtransactions in the high-profile sequel. Despite this rough start, Blizzard has managed to win over some players skeptical of the contentious sequel with a steady stream of updates bringing new heroes and content toOverwatch 2. In a new video posted to r/Overwatch, Redditor The_frost__ shows how their life as theOmnic hero Ramattracame to a sudden and unexpected end when playing on the Telantis map. The clip begins with The_frost__ and their teammates gathered at the spawn point in the community-created map, showing all of the players excitedly waiting for the door to open. As the match begins, The_frost__ rushes forward only to suddenly and unexpectedly end up dead as soon as they hit the ground. Luckily, a nearby Mercy is able to get them quickly up on their feet and back into the fight.

Redditors responding to the clip found the unusual glitch hilarious, with one comment stating that seeing Ramattra “tripping and dying has no right to be this funny.” Attempting to find an explanation for the Omnic’s unexpected expiration, some users suggested that The_frost__ could have somehow been crushed by the door as it opened. Other Redditors were amused by how Mercy simply rezzed the unexpectedly dead Ramattra without question, leading one reply to joke that it was “just another day in the life” for the angelicOverwatch 2healer.

After seeing Ramattra take such a painful stumble in Telantis, some players might find themselves watching their step before rushing off into battle the next time they find themselves on the undersea map. And while dying the instant the round begins may be a bit frustrating, at least it made for one of the mostunforgettableOverwatch 2match startsin recent memory.

Overwatch 2is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
