As if it wasn’t enough that Valve gave away oneSteam Deckevery minute during The Game Awards 2022 to lucky winners, the developer is now saying it wants to reward even more people by doing another giveaway. What some would considerone of the best hardware releases of 2022, the Deck has proven its worth, offering up PC gaming on the go in a way that is convenient but also powerful. Given the praise, no doubt many would leap at the chance to win a free one.
It was just recently thatparticipants could win a Steam Deck, with name’s being drawn every 60 seconds during the opening moments of The Game Awards event, which amounted to 150 of the portable devices being won. Those who wanted to be in with a chance of winning needed to register for the competition, as well as be watching the show when it was aired on December 8. Naturally, there would have been some crestfallen people who sadly didn’t get selected to be a recipient, but it looks as though there’s another opportunity to win one.

According to a recent report from PCGamesN, Valve was “so blown away” by the response over theSteam Deckgiveaway that the company is doing another round for those who want to try again. To be in with a chance, participants who registered during The Game Awards don’t need to do anything, as 171 names will be drawn from this list. It doesn’t look as though a date has been given so by the time this article goes live, the names may have already been picked. However, with the next Steam sale just around the corner, this second giveaway could coincide with this, but that’s speculation at this stage.
Despite being well-received, the Deck is by no means a perfect gaming system. It has its problems, like any new device, but that’s whyValve is planning improvements to the Steam Deck, with the developer looking to add more audio options and make cloud syncing better. In short, Gabe Newell and his team are by no means finished with its latest hardware product.
As mentioned above, theSteam winter sale is almost here, with the event kicking off on December 22 at 10 AM PT/1 PM ET and will run until July 18, 2025. Like all the major sales on the PC gaming storefront, there will be a host of AAA and indie titles that will be discounted. This is indeed an exciting time for gamers and will be even more thrilling for those that win a freeSteam Deck.
