The team behind the title, Iron Gate, have given a look into the current status of the game’s development and future content. Though there are some delays incoming forValheim, the Hearth & Home patch is shaping up to add some additional content.
The multiplayer survival game takes players into a medieval fantasy world filled with Vikings and monsters. Despite the small team and humble project,Valheimhas seen positive reception from the gaming community andpassed multiple Steam sales milestones. Numerous players have been diving in for crafting and exploring with friends, but this support is a double edged sword.

According to Iron Gate, the team did not expect the massive amount of players and it is causing some delays. Since the team’s priority is to make the game as stable as possible, the Hearth & Home update release is moving to Q3 2021. But even with the new launch window, the Steam post from the developers shows off some of the upcoming extras. For thoseadvancedValheimbuildersout there, there will be new build pieces like darkwood roofs and window hatches. Plus, cooking stations are getting an upgrade thanks to extensions like a spice rack and butcher table.
That is not all though, and Iron Gate is working on additional content for players who fancy cooking up goodies for themselves and buddies. A rework to thefood system combosis going to see a greater emphasis on health and stamina boosts. This will allow more flexibility when whipping up dishes to tie into personal playstyles. There will be some additional recipes like a Shocklate smoothie and Eyescream too. And as icing to the Nordic cake, Vikings will be able to start their own gardens by planting onions.
In the post, the team describes how the initial and future roadmaps are always going to be fluid. Due to new ideas or input from the community, Iron Gate wants to make sureValheimcan always feel fresh. While delays are never the best news, few players would disagree with focusing on stability and performance first. Even with the huge influx, it sounds like Iron Gate is still able to stick to creating unique content.
Of course, some may be disappointed to learn that theoriginal roadmap is getting scrapped. Certain players may have picked upValheimspecifically because of those content goals. With Hearth & Home getting pushed to Q3 2021, it is unclear when the rest of the updates will release. Otherwise, players will want to start prepping for all the changes coming in the new update later this year.
