The people of Sumeru pay homage to the “God of Wisdom” and the region’s leading academic body, the Akademiya, acts as the governing power for much of the rainforest-covered Sumeru. Sumeru’s focus on academics also plays into the roles of many of its characters being directly involved with the Akademiya, like Cyno and Al Haitham. One real-life university professor has now taken inspiration from this academic focus and includedGenshin Impactin their coursework.
