WithSpace Forceseason 2 premieringin just under a month, Netflix’s new trailer for the show opens by reminding fans of Naird’s reputation. “It’s been suggested that you are unstable, incompetent, fragile, eccentric, indecisive, and potentially treasonous,” Naird is told in the opening seconds of the trailer, prompting him to respond with snarky humor. What follows is a series of comedic moments from the new season as Naird and his team are informed they have only five months to prove Space Force’s worth to a new President of the United States. Naird is then told that should they fail to accomplish this task, he will find himself being replaced by a new commander.
Alsofeatured in theSpace Forceseason 2trailer are returning stars John Malkovich, Tawny Newsome, Ben Schwartz, Jimmy O. Yang, Diana Silvers, and many more. As to be expected, their mission runs into more than few complications as disagreements and potential romance brews among the many members of Naird’s team. Also seen in theSpace Forceseason 2 trailer is Patton Oswalt as an evidently lonely astronaut who communicates with team from space. Clearly unaware of how events are unfolding on Earth, the team cannot bring themselves to let the dismayed astronaut know that his beloved New York Jets aren’t faring well.
WhileSpace Forcedebuted to mostly mixed reviews, fans are hoping that the series can learn from what didn’t work with season one and improve upon what did for season 2. It’s not unheard of, especially for comedies. After all, shows likeThe OfficeandParks and Recreationweren’t exactly praised when their respective first seasons premiered, but now they’re regarded as some of the best television comedies of all time.
Regardless of howSpace Forceseason 2 turns out, perhaps fans should just be glad the show is returning at all. The joy of seeing an admired show return is a feeling that fans ofNetflix’s live-actionCowboy Bebopseriesprobably would have appreciated.
