Promotional art forThe Flashreveals a closer look at its cast of heroes, including the return of Michael Keaton’s Batman, and Supergirl. The Flashart was trending on social media, as fans joined in to discuss their thoughts on what this image could mean for the film. The Flashwas speculated to explain the trajectory of the DCU franchise. However, with recent changes by James Gunn, fans are now unsure on what directionThe Flashwill lead into, especially in the midst ofcontroversies surrounding Ezra Miller. During the present online discourse on whether the reboot is in the best interest of DC Studios, a piece of promotional art for the film popped up out of the blue, which shifted the conversation towards analysis of the image.RELATED:Everything That Is Currently Known About The State of James Gunn’s DC UnionThe piece of promotional art came fromThe Flash Film Newson Twitter, but has since been taken down reportedly for copyright reasons. The image features Supergirl, Batman, and two versions of Flash, one of which has fans talking. As shown in theDC Fandome teaser trailer, this multiverse film will have two different versions of Barry Allen, both played by Ezra Miller. The other Barry Allen is speculated to be like a reverse Flash that may have followed the protagonist DCEU Barry into the Burtonverse timeline. The controversy surrounding the promotional art has to do with the specific suit that is worn by this reverse Flash.
The promo image features a better look at Keaton’s Batman, who appears to be sporting an upgraded version of the costume that is more visually similar to the Panther suit fromBatman Forever, and Sasha Kaye’s Supergirl, whose suit is a variation of the Zack Snyder Superman costume worn by Henry Cavill. For better or worse, the promo image also shows the other Flash. The suit in question seems to visually align with a previously teased Instagram post by the director, revealing theKeaton batsuit painted red with a flash logo, which may now be sported by the reverse Flash, but with the bat ears cut off. There’s no denying the humorous way that the other Flash looks in the batsuit, most notably around the neck, as the Keaton bat cowl is famously known for inhibiting movement and may not be suitable for a hero who hosts the power of speed.
The promotional image fueled two sides of the fan base, those who are against the reboot and wish for the return of Snyder to finish the remaining two films in his DC saga, since it juxtaposes the direction of the franchise without him, and those who are excited about the reboot and see this as proof for why the previous era should be forgotten. However, it is unclear if the film is in on the joke, as there is currently no context for how this suit will operate in the film. The upcoming trailer forThe Flashis expected at the Superbowl, so fans won’t have long to wait.
The Flashis scheduled to be released in theaters on Aug 03, 2025.
