Summary

The latest patch forThe Texas Chain Saw Massacreis upon us, and it’s got a beefy set of patch notes. This comes under a month afterthe previousTexas Chain Saw Massacrepatch.

Developed by Sumo Nottingham and published by Gun Interactive,The Texas Chain Saw Massacreis an adaptation of the 1974 film of the same name and is the first game based on the ten-film franchise since the identically named 1982 title. It was one of the most hotly anticipated horror games of 2023, releasing well ahead of spooky season. In its short lifespan, the game has been well-received for its distinctive, asymmetrical multiplayer and its faithfulness to its source material, but no game comes out perfect. Fortunately, since release, the developers have been transparent with fans regarding their feedback and the patchwork required to address it.

The official Gun Interactive Reddit account shared the full patch notes for the September 16 update. Each alteration is categorized as either a Fix, a Change, or a Tune. As far as Fixes are concerned, various changes were madeto playable character Hitchhiker, fixing a glitch that would let him phase through walls by setting traps, and allowing ensnared Victims to get through crawlspaces or cross gaps. Johnny and Sissy also had their lunges nerfed to be more in-line with the other family members. Another cheat was patched out, which would’ve allowed PC players to adjust their brightness at times when it’s prohibited by editing game files.

Other changes were made to various aspects of gameplay, with reductions in certain perk levels alongside alterations to stealth in mini-games and stun immunity for various characters. Players who are controlling The Family also now have the ability to shut off the fusebox after it’s been turned on by a Victim. Another change in the Tune category was made toThe Texas Chain Saw Massacrecharacter Leland, as his Life Saver ability has had its stun duration upgraded.

As any philosopher worth their salt would say, a little goes a long way, and while many of these gameplay changes might seem small, they could alterThe Texas Chain Saw Massacre’s hardy multiplayer metato a large degree. It should be cool to see what impact this new patch will have on the gameplay, and whether these changes might cause new problems for another patch to solve. In the same post, Gun Interactive noted that it would shift away from weekly patches moving forward, so perhaps it’s trying to observe and see if such problems arise.

The Texas Chain Saw Massacreis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
