Summary
AStarfieldplayer has built an impressively sized ship that seems to have no need for ladders. This ship is just one of many unique and surprising player creations to come out of Bethesda’s latest action-adventure RPG,further evidencingStarfield’s complexity.
Gamers can sink quite a bit of time intoStarfield. For many, most of this time will be spent exploring the thousands of planets present in the game, collecting gear, or engaging in the many side quests on offer, but others may have more creative, detail-oriented aspirations. This is whereStarfield’sship-building system comes in, as it presents a surprisingly robust set of options for players interested in customizing spacecraft in a number of different ways. One of the most intriguing parts of this system is the fact that many changes made to the ship’s exterior will also impact its interior, making for a realistic, multifaceted customization process.

Starfield’s ship building isn’t perfect, though, and one issue that is commonly raised by players is the forced inclusion of ladders to move from one level of the ship to the next. Reddit user PalpitationSecure660 seems to have found a solution to this problem, however, as they recently shared a video of their custom ship that, aside from one required by the landing bay, is free of ladders. The ship is massive, with several different rooms connected by long hallways. The structure, as might be assumed, is low and wide, with only one additional level that can be reached via a short staircase.
Unless playersbuild a very small ship inStarfield, ladders are generally unavoidable, so the fact that this player has managed to piece together a functional, sizable craft with virtually no ladders whatsoever, is rather impressive. While some players may not be fond of its lengthy hallways, it seems like very little has been sacrificed to achieve this outcome, as the ship is sleek, stylish, and practical. It’s also a testament to theStarfieldship-building system that a player can conceive of a unique vision and execute it.
On the other hand, this build begs the question of why clever workarounds are needed to avoid ladders in the first place. It’s a reminder of some of themissed opportunities when it comes toStarfieldships, as the system includes some unfortunate restrictions like ladders that hinder fast and smooth inner-ship traversal. Still, ladders don’t bother every player, and the game arguably makes up for the lack of freedom with a bevy of other ship customization options.
