The Adventurer’s Guild inStardew Valleycan be a bit of a mystery for the uninitiated. Considering that they’re not even open at the start of the game and need to be unlocked from a curious quest received in the mailafter the player dips their toesinto the Mines, it can be difficult for players to understand what the point of it is and how exactly it can benefit them.
Despite the mystery surrounding the Adventurer’s Guild, there are plenty of good reasons to get involved - especially if players are interested in plundering the mines for all they’re worth! In this guide, we’ll explain how to unlock the Adventurer’s Guild, what’s involved within the Guild, and what surprises await players after unlocking the Guild.

Updated June 13, 2025 by Abbie Sharp:A few more tips and little bits of advice have been added, giving more detail on how to unlock the Adventurer’s Guild, monster eradication goals, and on exactly what Marlon and Gil have to offer to the player.
How To Unlock The Adventurer’s Guild
Players will probably see the Guild the first time they visit the mines. It’s located just east of the mine entrance, and the big green house is difficult to miss. However, players aren’t able to enter the Guild until they have completed the story quest’Initiation.‘The quest is receivedthe morning after players hit Level 5 of the Mines in the form of a letter in their Farm mailbox. All you must do then isslay 10 SlimesthroughoutStardew Valley. After this goal is met, the Adventurer’s Guild will be open to players from2:00 PM to 2:00 AM.
What’s Inside The Adventurer’s Guild?
Once inside the Guild, players are met with two new NPCs:Marlon, found behind the counter on the left, andGil, found rocking in a chair on the right. Marlon has a ton of things to offer to the player. First, he has a rewards scheme for players who slay a certain number of monsters (a list of which can be found to the right of his counter). Once the player meets the goal for the specific type of monster, they will unlock weapons and accessories that will help in the Mines. Similarly, he also expands his stock of weapons and accessoriesthe further into the Minesthe player manages to get.
Marlon also offers an item recovery scheme that will come as a huge help to any players with a habit of passing out in the Mines (or any other ofStardew Valley’sdungeons, including Skull Cavern). With this scheme, players can recover one of the items lost after passing out in a dungeon for the sell price of the item they lost. However, only one item out of several can be recovered, so choose carefully. The rest will be unattainable after the player has made their choice.

Monster Eradication Goals & Rewards
As mentioned, a list of goals is pinned on the wall near Marlon. This is known as the ‘Monster Eradication Goals’ list, involving several enemies for players to slay for rewards, including weapons, rings, and hats. The list may seem scary at first, but there are actually more opportunities to hit the goals than players might realize once they know where to look.
Below is a list of every monster the player is directed to slay, where they can be found (including dungeons inside andoutside of the Valley, the Secret Woods, and even on farmland), and the rewards involved after reaching each goal. After reaching these goals, players should speak to Gil with at least one empty slot in their inventory to claim their reward.
