Despite this, the new administration at Warner Bros. Discovery still saw potential in the characters, as aGreen LanternTV show in ‘true detective’ style was revealed alongside new Superman, Batman, and Supergirlprojects as part of Gunn’s new DC slate. Ever since, fans have been cautiously optimistic about the project, hoping that the new take will be able to salvage the reputation of one of the most interesting and powerful heroes in comics. One such fan is artist@jaxsonderr, who took to his Instagram account to post his spectacular fanart of a new live-action Green Lantern, this time portrayed byStar Warsfranchise star Alden Ehrenreich.

The image is captioned, “@aldenehrenreich as #greenlantern 🏮I can’t wait to see what James Gunn and his team cook up with this show." It depicts Ehrenreich in a phenomenalGreen Lanterncostume that looks unique and seemingly combines the best features of the unpopular CGI suit from the 2011 film and the far more practical version seen from theBTS images made forZack Snyder’s Justice League. While Ehrenreich, best known for playing the titular character inSolo: A Star Wars Story, has not been cast in the role, this fan art shows that he could make a convincing Hal Jordan.

While the last film has not been looked back on favorably, including leading man Reynolds releasing a‘Reynolds Cut’ of the Green Lantern moviein mockery, there is a second chance to impress open forLanterns, with the mistakes of the past and a clean slate to build on. Furthermore, Gunn and Safran’s plans seemingly aim to make the Green Lantern Corps a major player in their new universe, all but guaranteeing the project will get the utmost care and attention.

However, these plans will be conditional under Gunn and Safran, with the upcomingBlue Beetlefilm’s future being left to fate by Gunnand the same attitude likely to apply to all other future projects. Whether the first film’s widespread bad reputation will taint the new project orLanternscan light up the darkness and launch its stars to prominent roles in the new universe that the pair at the head of the new DCU is planning remains to be seen.
