The Main Cast
Nagi Umeno is the first main character that fans are introduced to. Nagi is an incredibly studious person,ranking among the top students in his classat the prestigious Megurogawa Academy. He is an incredibly serious person in comparison to his rambunctious family, who all have high energy and cheerful personalities.
Erika Amano is the secondary main character and is a lot more eccentric than Nagi. Erika comes from an incredibly wealthy background and goes to the all-girls Orpheus Academy.
She is also an online celebrity, which adds to her rather spoiled personality. Erika is a bit rebellious, going against her parent’s orders for an arranged marriage.
Hiro Segawa is the third main character and rounds out the show’s love triangle. Hiro has arather ditzy personality on the surfacebut is Megurogawa Academy’s best student. Nagi has a crush on her, but Hiro likes guys that are smarter than her. To win her affection, Nagi has a rivalry with her to reach the number 1 student at Megurogawa.
A Brief Plot Overview
A Couple of Cuckoosis about Nagi Umeno and Erika Amano who were swapped at birth. Without knowing this, Erika and Nagi meet by chance when Nagi tries to stop Erika from jumping off a bridge. It turns out, Erika was pretending to hurt herself to get her parents to call off her arranged marriage. After meeting Nagi, Erika asks him to be her pretend boyfriend as an alternative option to threatening her parents.
At the same time, Nagi finds out that he was swapped at birth, and decides to see his birth parents. However, to Nagi’s surprise, his birth parents are Erika’s parents. Because Erika’s parents believe Nagi and Erika are in a relationship, they suggest thatNagi and Erika become engaged, so that both of them can be their children.

The catch is that Nagi likes Hiro Segawa, the smartest student at his school. Unfortunately, because of the pressure of Erika’s parents and the risk of her being put into a new arranged marriage, Nagi and Erika must stay in their pretend relationship. Hijinks ensue when the two must share a house together.
