Originally released in 2015,The Witcher 3: Wild Huntwas a huge success, receiving near-universal critical acclaim. By 2019, the game had sold over 20 million copies worldwide, accounting for well over half of the franchise’s sales at that point. Thanks to the release of the Netflix show of the same name, sales forThe Witcher 3: Wild Hunthave topped forty million copies. However, it wasn’t the most polished title upon release.
When the game first hit shelves and digital storefronts, it was full of bugs. One of the most egregious bugs actually stopped players fromearning experience points inThe Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt. Within a few months, however, developer CD Projekt Red had managed to patch out the majority of these issues. Unfortunately, some of these bugs still remained and can result in things that are both hilarious and frustrating.

For whatever reason, glitches involving a player’s mount are fairly common in video games, and this franchise is no exception. In the past, for example, gamers have seen Geralt’s horseRoach run at full speed while only on two legs inThe Witcher 3. In a recent post, putin0071 shared another peculiar Roach glitch. In the video that was shared, Roach appears to have jumped onto the top of a house and can be seen staring down at Geralt. The horse then makes an awkward jump off the roof that makes it look like the animal is floating to the floor.
Roach is actually the name of several horses that Geralt has had throughoutThe Witcherfranchise. Witchers tend to live much longer than regular humans, and the main character has evidently gone through several horses over the years. Geralt’s mount was missing in the first game but appeared in one of the ending cinematics ofThe Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings. The animal that appears inThe Witcher 3has been listed as one of gaming’s best horses, though it is known to glitch out often.
The future ofThe Witcherfranchise is currently unclear. While the Netflix show of the same name still has a multi-season plan, the fate of the video games is a bit vague. CD Projekt Red hasconfirmed that a fourthWitchergame is in development, but has remained coy about possible connections to previous games. Further complicating matters is the reception toCyberpunk 2077.
Cyberpunk 2077unfortunately tarnished CD Projekt Red’s reputation thanks to the game’s broken, buggy release state. The company’sstock has fallen over 75% sinceCyberpunk 2077was released, and it currently isn’t clear how such a massive fall will affect future and previous installments inThe Witcherfranchise. At the moment, however, fans can still go back and play the third game and enjoy Roach’s quirky glitches.
