AsCall of Dutyfans know, the mood surroundingCall of Duty: VanguardandCall of Duty: Warzonehas been quite negative. Not only are there reports thatCall of Duty2023 will be delayed a year, but Activision even issued a statement in January stating that it heard player frustrations withVanguardandWarzone. Needless to say, there are a lot of expectations built forCall of Duty2022. It may then come as a surprise that the nextCall of Dutygame could be revealed much sooner than expected.A prominentCall of Dutyleaker, RalphsValve, shared some information about thenextCall of Dutyon Twitter recently. To start, RalphsValve tweeted a countdown that seemingly pointed to aCall of Dutyevent. The countdown was accompanied by the date April 30.RELATED:Call of Duty Issues Statement to Community About Its Plans to Fix Vanguard and WarzoneRalphsValve would later follow up to the initial post because some people were confused over what it meant. Many leapt to the conclusion that the newCall of Dutygame would be fully revealed on April 30 due to RalphsValve’s countdown. That’s not the case, however. In a second tweet, RalphsValve said that the “Reveal” is actually set for Mary, though they don’t provide a specific date for the full reveal. While they don’t clarify what the countdown is for specifically, it’s likely for a teaser or traditionalCall of Dutyannouncement of an announcement.
Obviously, since theCall of Duty 2022reveal news is coming from a single source that hasn’t been corroborated, it should be considered a rumor until proven otherwise. There’s also the fact that it’s still very early for aCall of Dutyannouncement and reveal.Call of Duty: Vanguardwasn’t revealed until August 2021, after all. The early reveal could be a result of frustrations with the current state ofCall of Duty, however.
Leaks have already all but confirmed the name of this year’sCall of Dutyproject. It’s said to be the sequel to the recently well-receivedCall of Duty: Modern Warfarereboot,Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. It’ll be developed by Infinity Ward and will be released this holiday season, as is traditional for the series' annual schedule. Perhaps it will launch a bit earlier than expected, though.
The reception toCall of Duty 2022and its accompanyingrelaunch ofCall of Duty: Warzonecould dramatically alter the direction of the series. Perhaps that’s why Activision will be revealing the new game early, so it can make adjustments prior to launch. Needless to say, it’s an interesting time to be aCall of Dutyfan.
