TheResident Evil 4remake is officially coming to PlayStation 4, with more information on the game to come at a special showcase that Capcom is hosting in October. TheResident Evil 4remake has been rumored for years, but Capcom finally gave the project its official announcement this past June.After announcing theResident Evil 4remake, Capcom also confirmed its June 17, 2025 release date and that it would be launching for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X.

Capcom made no mention of older consoles, and so many assumed that theResident Evil 4remake would be a proper, next-gen only release. On one hand, this would mean theResident Evil 4remake wouldn’t be held back by the limitations of older consoles, but on the other hand, it would mean that some gamers would simply be missing out if they still haven’t been able to get their hands on a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X.

However, Capcom has now confirmed that theResident Evil 4remake is also going to be available for PlayStation 4 at launch. Capcom confirmed as much during itsTokyo Game Show 2022 presentation, but stopped short of showing the PS4 version of the game in action. Those interested in seeing more of theResident Evil 4remake will have to tune in to the specialResident Evilshowcase in October, though a specific date and time for that event was not announced. Dedicated Xbox One and Nintendo Switch versions of the game weren’t announced either, which is surprising since the game is coming to PS4.

Besides confirming theResident Evil 4remake for PS4 at Tokyo Game Show, Capcom also gave fans a reminder about some of the other new content on the way from its survival-horror franchise. Chief among this upcoming content is theResident Evil VillageDLC that’s set to launch on October 28. TheWinters Expansion forResident Evil Villagewill be adding the Shadows of Rose story, an optional third-person mode for the base game, and new characters for the Mercenaries mode.

Capcom also touched on new ways thatResident Evilfans will be able to playResident Evil Villagein the near future. This includes theResident Evil Villagecloud versionthat’s coming to the Nintendo Switch, as well as the VR version of the game that’s in the works for Sony’s PlayStation VR2 headset. It will be interesting to see what else Capcom has in store forResident Evilfans once the showcase rolls around in October.
