20th Century Studios has released the trailer for the upcoming 2022 horror filmBarbarian.Sometimes staying at a hotel or rental home can be creepy, and that’s certainly the case in Dave Franco’s 2020 directorial debutThe Rental.Barbariantakes on the dangers of renting a place to stay, telling the story of a character who is hoping to get a job and whose Airbnb stay turns terrifying.
Horror fans can check out the trailer and look forward to what is sure to be an entertaining and exciting story.

InBarbarian, Tess (Georgina Campbell) is on her way to Detroit, hoping to get a job. When there’s a mishap and the rental house that she is supposed to stay at already has a man there named Keith, she agrees to stay there as well. Themovie seems to be set in a single locationand from the trailer alone, it’s clear that Tess is asolid horror movie main character.
The trailer opens with an all-too familiar and relatable situation: arriving at a rental home and finding it locked. The main character rings the doorbell to no avail, clearly frustrated after a day of travel. When the man who is there suggests that she “come inside and we’ll call these idiots,” she is clearly a bit nervous but doesn’t seem to have any other options.
As the trailer continues, Tess hears a strange noise and begins exploring and investigating the rental. She turns on the flashlight on her iPhone and goes down a creepy staircase, finding a videotape that she then watches with her eyes wide open and her heart beating with fear the entire time.
With Bill Skarsgård, Alex Lebovici, Danny Chan, Natalie Lehmann, and Michael Schaefer as executive producers,Barbarianis from 20th Century Studios and New Regency. J.D. Lifshitz, Raphael Margules, Roy Lee and Arnon Milcahn are producers on the film. The film stars Georgina Campbell in the main role, along with Bill Skarsgård, Justin Long, Matthew Patrick Davis, Richard Brake, Kurt Braunohler and Jaymes Butler.
Zach Cregger wrote and directed the film and his previous directing credits includeThe Whitest Kids U’Know,The Civil War You Know,andNewsboyz.
While the trailer forBarbarianis vague and horror fans will have to wait until the movie’s release for more details of the plot, it seems that something strange and scary is happening at this rental home. The videotape that Tess watches suggests that there might be a cult involved, as the trailer plays a woman’s voice saying, “This process might seem overwhelming, but with a little practice, it can soon become a pleasurable experience.”
Tess is definitely asympathetic horror movie characteras she finds herself in a situation that no one wants to be in, and horror fans will want to addBarbarianto the list ofanticipated 2022 horror releases.
