Piratically since its inception,Red Dead Redemption 2players have tripped over mystery after mystery, with seemingly no end in sight. The game has been out for a year and a half now, meaning there are severalRDR2mysteries that have been solvedlike the Cave Giant, the Legendary Catfish, and more. The biggest mystery is arguably related to the aliens, but there’s a lot of variables there. One mystery confirmed to have a solution yet to be discovered is the Third Meteorite.

It’s worth mentioning that, of the mysteries to be solve, the common answer is cut content. The aforementioned giant and catfish were content originally supposed to have a role in the game but was cut, with some remnants of them being left behind to tease players. However, Rockstar Support has confirmed that there are three meteorites to be found inRed Dead Redemption 2, yet the third has yet to be tracked down.

First, what do these meteorites do and where are the first two? They are in-game items that, when found, reduce the effect of hot environments inRed Dead Redemption 2. Players eventually began thinking that the third meteorite was another hoax or cut content, yet Rockstar confirmed there were three in the game to be found. As such, the very fact that it has not be found yet is intriguing nonetheless. The first two are simple found on the ground: one north of Roanoke Valley, one north east of the Fossilized man.

Some think that the third meteorite is so hard to find because it is tied to another mystery. Jokes aboutGavinand Princess IKZ aside, meteorites are depicted in thetime traveler Francis Sinclair’s mural, with one being attached to Egypt. This has led some to believe that it’s in a dry desert-like area (but despite claims to have found it, noRDR2player actually has found it in areas like this).

Tracking down the Third Meteorite has used up a lot of manpower with little to show for it.RDR2players have scoured dry areas, tried to track the trajectory, formulated ideas and theories, and more. Some have even searchedGuarmato no avail, while perhaps the most promising is the Valentine conversation. A random conversation, hard to hear and find, near Valentine mentions someone’s daughter fishing a strange rock from a lake, but tracking down the daughter has led to nothing, fishing and trying to find the meteorite has led to nothing, and the conversation itself is incredibly hard to track down.

It seems the leading theory right now, or at least one that makes sense, is that the meteorite actually has already been found, just not by theRed Dead Redemption 2player. The aforementioned daughter could have it, or it could be a tease that someone else does. Instead of searching areas like the first two, perhaps it’s best to be looking at NPCs. Of course, that would be easier if players could identify those with 10% heat resistance, but regardless, the search carries on.

Having all 3 could be big. It could hold the answers to other mysteries, but for now, it’s definitely one of the biggestRed Dead Redemption 2mysteries that go unsolved.

Red Dead Redemption 2is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
