Razerhas officially unveiled Razer Edge and announced the price points and stats of its new hand held gaming system.Razeralso unveiled a horde of new announcements at this year’s Razercon 2022, with the Razer Edge being one of the most exciting among them.
Razer is a gaming lifestyle brand behindthe DeathAdder gaming mouse, a popular gaming mouse among professional gamers, manufacture a wide range of gaming products including gaming laptops, gaming tablets, and PC accessories such as mice, audio devices, keyboards, mouse mats, and game pads. In 2017 the company launched the Razer Phone in an attempt to launch into the gaming phone market with a device mainly tailored towards the mobile gaming audience.

During the keynote address of Razercon 2022, an annual event for Razer to showcase its latest products and announce special news, Richard Hashim, Head of Razer’s Mobile & Console Division, officially announced the Razer Edge handheld. Claiming “With the Razer Edge, we’ve created the ultimate handheld gaming platform” that has been designed to be an all-in-one experience, with a 5G and Wi-Fi version available. The console will launch sometime in January in America, and although the 5G version’s price has not yet been announced, the Wi-Fi only model comes with a price tag of $399.99 and $499.99 for the Founders Edition, which includes theRazer Hammerhead True Wireless earbuds.
Both configurations of the handheld come bundled with a Razer Kishi V2 Pro controller which utilizes advanced haptic feedback, similar to the PS5 controller, and will be able to run “thousands of AAA games” including, Android games, and have access to Epic Games Store, remote play apps, andXbox Cloud Gamingand Nvidia GeForce Now. Razer have teamed up with Qualcomm to provide the Snapdragon G3x Gen 1 chipset to provide unrivaled android gaming performance. The Razer edge boasts a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with a 2400x1080 resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate delivering seamless response times, superior color contrasts, an expanded viewing angle, and a surprisingly economic battery life.
The Razer Edge seemingly offers a lot for gamers to be excited about and may giveValve’s popular Steam Deckand the highly successful Nintendo Switch a run for their money. With a similar price to its competitors and offering the first fully dedicated 5G handheld run on Verizon 5G Ultra Wideband, the Razer Edge may just be a game changer which could set off new developments for other handheld systems in order to keep up.
