PlayerUnknown’s Battlegroundscontinues to be one of the more popular battle royales, with regular updates and content expansions. When it comes to maps, Erangel is the original one that was first presented to the players back in 2017 and continues to be a favorite of many players after all this time.

Thereare many elements to considerwhen choosing a dropping point. The trajectory of the plane and the desired location’s proximity to it is extremely important, as that decides just how contested that point is going to be. If players are not too confident in the earliest stages, it is perfectly fine to go as far away from the plane as possible, to gear up and dominate the map at a later stage.

10Primorsk

Primorsk is a great destination, depending on the flight pattern and zone. Despite being a rather large location, it isn’t very sought after, allowing players to loot and gear up in relative peace. The town is adjacent to a road, which allows for a quick getaway if needed.

The loot in the city is quite decent, with a chance to get high-level gear pieces. It is also in a position where moving to another location is easy, should the zone be unkind. There are many buildings to occupy, or ambush other players, givingthose who landed there firstan advantage.

Primorsk

9Kameshki

Kameshki is great for those looking to find gear as far from other players as possible. Being far north, few players actually venture to this town, which lets the patient adventurers loot until satisfied. While the gear’s quality might not be the highest, there is plenty of it here to fully deck out a duo.

It would be useful to eye the nearby vehicles early on because the zone can easily be too far away to make the journey on foot. This location is also advantageous in terms of its placement, with many good positions to take around it, should the zone be favorable.

8Mylta Power

Mylta Power is a high-quality drop location that for the most part isn’t too crowded, due to the proximity to Mylta town. The items here cango all the way to level 3,allowing players to fully gear up before jumping into the fray.

It is also convenient that there are multiple getaway options, from driving to swimming. The architecture here is incredibly fun for a last stand, with many nooks, elevations, and covers that come into play. Mylta Power might not be worth it if there are too many players going for it though, as there are much better hot spots to fight for.

Kameshki

7Prison

Prison is one of those Feast or Famine locations due to its rather small size. There is a great possibility of good loot here, but with not too much space, it can just as well provide the very bare minimum. It is a good place for solo players but could be somewhat lacking for a group.

The elevated geographical position makes it a good starting point, allowing players to scout out their surroundings should they move to the top of the nearby mountain. Otherwise, it is a well-protected location, surrounded on all sides by hills, preventing distant snipers from harassing players as they loot.

6Stalber

Stalber can be a great starting point for players, with amassive vertical advantage upon landing. Should the players find a good scope, this becomes a stellar sniper position, covering a good chunk of the map around it. There is a downside to being this high up, as it is easier for enemies to deduce players' location.

The loot here is decent, and there is a chance for vehicles to spawn nearby, for a quick retreat to somewhere else. The way down could be a bit bumpy, with only one paved way down, but with enough luck/skill, players can try to rush down the uncharted sides of the mountain.

5Ruins

Ruins are a fun addition to an otherwise uniform map, with its “historical” pieces of the past. There are enough items here to equip a squad, with decent gear quality. While there might not be any vehicles in the immediate vicinity, the little trek is quite worth it due to its general location.

The Ruins are placed very near the center of the map, allowing players to easily adjust their location based on the zone. There are many high-value locations nearby, and tackling them is made much easier by gearing up before any encounters take place.

4Shooting Range

By itself, Shooting Range is ok, with decent loot enough for at least one member of the party. What immediately makes it shine though, is the fact that next to it there is an underground bunker, with many levels and chamberswith high-quality loot.

The Bunker can have gear all the way up to level 3, with great weapons and attachments all over the place. It could be quite dangerous, as the exits from the bunker can be watched over by the enemies, ambushing those who looted the place. But it is still worth it, considering that some vehicles can actually drive down the stairs, making for a spectacular escape.

Prison

3Hospital

The Hospital is a great location to fit out a squad, before heading deeper into the map, or even contesting the nearby town. With the many systematic rooms and corridors, it is relatively easy to quickly loot the place, starting from the roof.

It is a great location to start with, as there are many important objectives next to it, from the tall mountains to the east to Georgopol to the North, and the vast fields of Gatka to the South. And should the zone be too far to run, there are plenty of vehicles nearby to zoom away.

2Sosnovka Military Base

Sosnovka is notoriously the most contested location inPlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, with many screenshots of dozens of people in the sky going for it. The first few minutes are the most brutal, with shootouts occurring all over the place, but when there is only one winner, they have arguably the best location on the map.

There is enough level 3 gear to easily equip a squad, with the very best armor, weapons, and attachments. It is also a viable option to drive here, even if it is kind of far away from the drop line. But one should be careful with leaving, with the two bridges being notoriously dangerous locations due to campers.

Stalber

1School

The School is another highly contested position, for a number of reasons. First, there is a ton of great gear scattered between the few buildings. Secondly, the location is placed almost dead center on the map, giving theultimate power to adapt to the Zone.

Unlike the Military Base, it is incredibly easy to leave the School with all the gear, as virtually the entire map is accessible. It is also a good place to drop when planning on hunting for Airdrops, allowing for quick gearing and plenty of vehicles around. While being very risky, this is arguably the best place to start one’s road to Chicken Dinner.
