APS5owner created impressive designs for the DualSense wireless controller that took inspiration from Sony’s hit filmSpider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. ThePS5player then shared their designs on social media for other fans to see and use for themselves, and earned praise for their work and their creative design choices.
As the PS5 approaches its third year on the market, upcoming games such asMarvel’s Spider-Man 2look to continuethe console’s upward trend after its slow start. The trend is based on the fact that PS5 units are becoming more readily available after the COVID-19 pandemic and chip shortage rendered most gamers unable to obtain a console at launch. With Sony at the helm of both the PS5 andAcross the Spider-Verse, one fan sought to combine the two ideas when designing some DualSense controller concepts, and the results were a web slinger’s dream.

A Redditor named Snowway22, also known as Pineapple.Graphics on Instagram posted DualSense wireless controller concepts based on Miles Morales, Gwen Stacy, Miguel O’Hara, and The Spot on the r/PlayStation subreddit. Each controller design was done as a vector illustration, with colors and motifs that fit each ofthe aforementioned characters fromAcross the Spider-Verse. For Gwen Stacy, the DualSense controller had black as its primary color, with some doses of pink, light blue, and white scattered on the face buttons and bumpers. The Miles Morales controller was black and red, with his Spider-Man logo on the touchpad. For Miguel O’Hara, also known as Spider-Man 2099, red and blue were the dominant colors of choice, with the thumbsticks remaining the standard black.
As for The Spot’s controller, the OP used a white controller as the canvas, with erratic blotches of black spots throughout it. As a bonus, Snowway22 showed an outline of the vectors they used for designing the controllers. The post from Snowway22 received over 500 upvotes in a day on r/PlayStaion. Other PS5 players andSpider-Manfans praised them in the comments, with some offering to buy these controllers were these made into real units. WithAcross the Spider-Versebeing the top-grossing box office filmat the time of writing, the timing of these controllers would have been impeccable.
But, withMarvel’s Spider-Man 2just a few months away, it remains to be seen what Sony and Insomniac have in store for Spider-Man fans. Between the success ofAcross the Spider-Verseand the intrigue surroundingMarvel’s Spider-Man 2, web slingers around the world have plenty to be excited about.
