Pokemon GOtrainers have had an exciting week that came along with a rollercoaster of highs and lows. The community was buzzing with excitement whenMega Evolutions and Mega Raids were announced, but it didn’t take long for some players to start to feel a little frustrated by the low drop rates of Mega Energy in comparison to the high cost of Mega Evolving a Pokemon repeatedly.
That said, things seem to have at least partially turned around very quickly with Niantic responding to fan complaints and committing themselves to revising the Mega system to make it more user friendly. The first changes alterthe rewards for Mega Raidsand reduces the cost for Mega Evolving a Pokemon after the first time. These are just the first few of a handful of changes that are on their way to thePokemon GOmega system.

With that in mind, Niantic is hoping that players will continue heading into Mega Raids over the coming week to take advantage of the new system. When Mega Raids launched, a1 PokeCoin bundle appeared in the game’s Shopthat offered three Remote Raid Passes at the incredibly cheap price. According to Niantic Support players are about to get another change to pick up three more for the same price next week…
This offer is obviously a great deal and players shouldn’t pass it up. Earning one PokeCoin in the game is pretty easy, even for players who don’t live in a convenient spot for holding a Gym every day. The offer is clearly an effort to keep the community participating in Mega Raids and ensuring that players don’t give up on the system without trying out the new reward structure. Hopefully the changes make the cost of Mega Evolving a little more enticing and the system has a chance to grow and become a new piece of the metagame to evaluate as players are examining their resources and trying to select the perfect roster fordifferent PvP and PvE challenges in the mobile AR game.
The exact release time of the upcoming bundle was not confirmed, but players should keep an eye on the in-game Shop starting on the morning of September 10. It will likely arrive in the early afternoon and there will be reminders on social media about the offer.
Now that the Mega Evolution Special Research event is live and the new mechanic is in place, the festivities should give trainers a good reason to continue catchingthe best Unova Pokemon in the gameand getting closer to that complete Pokedex. Check back for morePokemon GOupdates closer to the event. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
