APokemonfan has designed a human form for Litwick, a Ghost/Fire-type Pokemon that first debuted in the Generation 5Pokemongames,Pokemon Black and White.Pokemon Black and Whitewere originally released in Japan on the Nintendo DS in 2010 before making their way to other regions some months later in 2011. They served as the third set of main seriesPokemongames for the Nintendo DS afterPokemon Diamond and PearlandPokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver.
Pokemon Black and Whiteare notable for introducing 156 new Pokemonto the series and focusing exclusively on those new Pokemon for the bulk of the adventure. Whereas most otherPokemongames allow fans to run into a mix of new and returning Pokemon,Black and Whitewanted to keep the spotlight on the debuting Unova creatures.

One such Pokemon that made its debut in the Unova region was Litwick, which is basically a sentient candle.Litwick served as inspirationfor a piece of fan art done by Reddit user EarlGreyWhiskers, aka RemHydragrove, who created a human version of the creature. Human Litwick has clothes that retain Pokemon’s color scheme, and even has what appears to be a lit candle wick in her hair. Fans have reacted positively to the art, with the post getting over 3,000 upvotes at the time of this writing. One commenter even suggested that EarlGreyWhiskers give a similar treatment to Litwick’s evolutions.
It would be interesting to see what Litwick’s evolved forms look like as humans. Litwick evolves into Lampent at level 41, whileLampent evolves into Chandelurewhen exposed to a Dusk Stone. They are all Ghost/Fire-type Pokemon and keep with the “light” theme. Litwick is a candle, Lampent is a lamp, and Chandelure is a chandelier.
The Litwick line actually represents one of the problems that somePokemonfans had with the Generation 5 designs: having multiple Pokemon based on inanimate objects. Besides the Litwick line, there’s also Trubbish and Garbodor, Vanillite, Vanillish, and Vanilluxe, Klink, Klang, and Klinklang, and others. SomePokemonfans point to these creatures as having some of the worst designs in the series, especially the Trubbish and Vanillite lines.
It will be interesting to see if public opinion on these bizarre Generation 5 Pokemon designs changes at all.Pokemon Black and Whiteremakeswould be next in line, so it’s possible these Generation 5 Pokemon will get some more time in the spotlight at some point in the next few years.
