Over the years, PlatinumGames has transformed into one of the most prolific developers in the entire industry, developing blockbuster releases each and every year. The studio is currently in the process of working on several titles, includingBayonetta 3,Babylon’s Fall, and the recently announcedSol Cresta. However, it seems it’s secretly been wrapping up production on a game it announced back in 2018, withWorld of Demonsofficially available to download via the Apple Arcade right now.

The surprise launch comes complete with a high-octane trailer, showing off more of Platinum’s newest action game and its traditional Japanese art style inspired by ukiyo-e woodblock prints. The studio has revealed plenty more about the release over on its website, although the trailer does a good job at letting players know that this will be a fully-fledgedPlatinumGamesaction experience that can be enjoyed on the go.

The promo showsWorld of Demons’samurai protagonist going head to head with an array of intimidating demonic enemies, fighting across fiery landscapes, snow-covered mountains, and picturesque temples. Unsurprisingly for a PlatinumGames title, it looks to focus on fast-paced combat, with the player having to dodge enemies attacks while dishing out punishment through sword-based combos. The studio reveals that the game will be filled with supernatural foes pulled directly from Japanese folklore, with the main antagonist of the experience being Shuten Doji: the mythological leader of all oni.

Players will allegedly be able to recruit demons they face into their own army, leading them into a battle against the forces of evil. The announcement of the game’s release comes shortly after yesterday’s reveal thatSol Cresta– a sequel to theTerra Crestaseriesthat many took to be an April Fool’s Day joke – was a real project currently in development over at PlatinumGames.

That’s far from the only title coming from the studio, with Platinum’s newfound push into publishing seeing it amass a host of fresh projects. The biggest game in the works is likelyBayonetta 3,which the team has kept quietly under wraps since its announcement all the way back in 2017. However, it’s also hard at work on Hideki Kamiya’sProject G.G, which will be the epic climax to the director’s “Superhero trilogy” and seemingly feature giant robots taking on colossal kaiju. Other projects include fantasy action gameBabylon Falland role-playing adventureGranblue Fantasy: Relink. For now though, players can hop intoWorld of Demonson Apple Arcade.
