Path of Exilehas received rave reviews since its initial release in 2013 for its combat, consistent updates, and darker feel. After 10 years of updates, beginner players have anastonishing amount of items, skills, and general mechanicsto get their heads around.The Maraudercharacter class can be a good starting point for those seeking a significant health pool and melee damage.
Marauders start with a heavily-increased Strength stat over Dexterity and Intelligence. With this strong emphasis on strength, driving forward into the heart of the enemy is a Marauder’s specialty. Players will, therefore, need to know which armor to seek out if playing as a Marauder.
7Crusader Plate
Armor: 601-691
Once players hit level 59, they may start to see theCrusader Plateitem appearing as they explore new areas and vanquish new foes. Appearing in Act 6/7 during the latter half of the main campaign, the Crusader Plate comes with a -5% movement penalty, but this is more than made up for through itsdamage-blocking abilities.
There is also a unique version of this armor, the Iron Fortress, for players who take a particular liking to the base version of the armor.
6Astral Plate
Armor: 711-782
A slight increase in armor compared to the Crusader Plate, the benefits of theAstral Platelie elsewhere. The base version of this armor comes with an 8-12 % boost to allelemental damage resistance. Elemental damage includes fire, cold, and lightning damage.
The Celestial Justicar divination card will grant players a six-socket base version of this armor and can only be found at these locations:
5Kaom’s Heart
Armor: 776-892
A unique variant of the Glorious Plate,Kaom’s Heartis a very unusual piece of armor. It grants a massive 500 increase to the life (health) of the user with a 20-40% increase in fire damage. These desirable stats are had in exchange for a piece of armor that has no socketsfor any further customization.
This can be a worthwhile trade-off for the right sort of player. If so, this armor can be acquired most easily by collecting a set of 8 of The Kings Heartsdivination cards. These can be found in Caldera and Volcano.
4Utula’s Hunger
Armor: 848-1250
The strength ofUtula’s Hunger, a variant of the Majestic Plate, is in its life modifiers. This piece of armor grants a 1-3% life recovery after any kill and a 700-1000 increase in maximum life if the user has no other life modifiers on any other equipped item.
Thismeans all weapons, off-hands, armor, and jewelry. Make sure this condition is met to get the most out of this piece of armor. There is no particular recipe to make this armor and, therefore, it must be acquired through randomized recipes or dropped loot.
3Craiceann’s Carapace
Armor: 1677-2250
A unique variant of the Golden Plate,Craiceann’s Carapaceis a piece of armor that is very limited in its availability and modifiers. Equipping it grants players an immediate level 20 Aspect of the Crab. This gives the player a crab barrier that grants a reduction in physical damage.
It can be combined with the other 3 pieces of Craiceann’s armor tomaximize its usefulness. All 4 pieces of armor can be acquired after defeating Craiceann in Craiceann’s Cove, an end-game area.
2Death’s Oath
Armor: 1990-2502
Death’s Oathoffers a myriad of benefits and buffs to characters. Among others, it offers a 40-50 boost to all attributes, a 10-15% increase in attack speed, and a 60-70 bonus to overall life. The major benefit is access to the spell Death Aura. This spell deals massive amounts of chaos damage over time around the player. There is a smaller amount of damage inflicted on the player character as well, but it is a price worth paying.
Death’s Oath can drop anywhere but can also be created by collecting a set of 6 The Oath divination cards. These can be dropped in the following map areas:
1The Brass Dome
Armor: 3321-4240
The Brass Domearmor is a simpler piece than many others on this list. Its massive armor stat is supported by total defense against any type of critical strike and a 1-5% bonus to all maximum elemental resistances. Players running with theJuggernaut ascendancy classcan also use the Unbreakable passive skill to double the overall armor.
Acquiring this armor may prove difficult, as players will have to hope they get the item via a random drop or get lucky when using an Orb of Chance on a Gladiator Plate.
