Combat inPalworldcan be a bit rough when it’s a player fighting a Pal. Pal on Pal combat is another thing entirely, but when you’re trying to handle the fight as a Tamer, dodging attacks and getting real damage it can be pretty rough. On top of this, the target a Pal picks between the Tamer and their allied Pal seems almost random, with a lot of the Pals just focusing solely on the Tamer rather than the Pal that’s currently attacking them.

Thankfully, if you’re finding a certain Dungeon Boss, Alpha Pal, or even a Raid to be too difficult to handle, there’s a trick to keep any number of enemies stun-locked until they’re dead, so let’s go over exactly how this trick works inPalworld.

Palworld - In The Middle of an Explosion

Updated February 19th, 2024 by Russ Boswell: Once players get their hands on specific Pal weapons in Palworld, it makes it a lot easier to capture and even stun-lock certain enemies. Stun-locking enemies can be the best way to defeat some of them, as there are foes that can down players quickly with powerful attacks. To better showcase how players can stunlock enemies and one of the best weapons to use in Palworld, the following guide has been updated to include a companion video. Here’s an expanded look athow to stun-lock enemies in Palworld.

Trick Explanation: Explosions

Most Explosions Knock Enemies Down

To go over what this trick is centered around, it’s explosions. Explosive attacks inPalworldall seem to have one thing in common, they knock down the enemy and cause them to get those iconic stars above their head for a second or two. When they’re first knocked down the opponents are invulnerable for about a second but as soon as they start getting up you can pile on the damage or knock them down again.

Granted, you might not want to do this in very tight spaces or againstenemies you’re interested in capturing, as the game doesn’t seem to handle the act of ‘blowing enemies away’ with explosions too well. Oftentimes, the enemy will get blown back by the force of the explosion, only for the game to struggle to find a point to ‘return’ them too for their recovering animation. When this happens, a lot of enemies end up stuck in walls or dissapear entirely. Also, this trick doesn’t work against Tower Bosses, as they can’t be stunned by any means other than electricity. In every other scenario, however, this trick absolutely breaks the game’s balance.

Palworld - Using Mossanda Grenade Launcher

First up let’s go over the most accessible option, the Tocotoco’s Eggbomb Launcher. This is also the least useful option, as it doesn’t actually have the ‘stun’ effect that the other options below will have. That said, it still launches enemies into the air (even if they stay standing),can still deal absurd damage, and will sometimes interrupt enemy actions.

When used, you’ll take the Tocotoco you’ve summoned and put them into your hands with their…behind facing towards the enemies. Then, with every click you’ll launch and explosive egg at said enemies. It’s a Partner Skill very reminiscent of some of Kazooie’s attacks in the classic Banjo & Kazooie games. However, compared to the other two options listed below, it’s the least useful.

Moving on to the actual trick that this guide is primarily focused on, the Grenade Launcher Partner Skills that both Mossandaand its elemental variant, Mossanda Lux, have access to. You won’t unlock the ability to craft this Pal Gear until you’re level 24, which is a good portion of the way intoPalworld, but honestly for how powerful this Pal Gear is it should be locked even further down the Technology Tree.

When built, this Pal Gear allows you to actually ride any Mossanda (the electric Mossanda Lux included) and when you do you’ll be able to use their handheld grenade launchers. These things are absurd in the area of effect for the explosion as well as their damage (once you’ve used the Essence Condenser to level the Partner Skill up). But, neither of these aspects compare at all to this Grenade Launcher’s ability to keep enemies stunned and on the ground. With this Pal Gear alone, you can basically trivialize Raids for the rest of the game as long as you position your shots well. And, if that wasn’t broken enough, you can also ‘reset’ the cooldown for this Partner Skill by either putting the Mossanda in question into the Palbox and taking them back out or even just dropping their Pal Sphere on the ground and picking it back up.

And for the final Pal-related trick, let’s take a look at both the Missile Launchers thatRelaxauruscan use as well asJetragon. For Relaxaurus and Relaxaurus Lux, the Missile Launcher will feel like a huge unlock. Not only does this finally allow you to ride these goofy-looking dinosaurs that you probably already caught one or more of hours and hours ago, but it also allows you to fire a flurry of homing rockets at any target you wish. And, when these rockets make contact, they’ll knock enemies down and stun them in the same way as Mossanda’s Grenade Launcher. Unlike the Grenade Launcher, however, spacing out your shots is even more importantso as not to waste any shots hitting an enemy that’s already down and in their invincibility frames.

For the most part, these Hungry Missiles are actually worse than Mossanda’s Grenade Launcher, even if they’re unlocked later. However, the homing feature of these rockets makes using them a whole lot more fun. As for Jetragon’s Missile Launcher, it’s actually almost identical to Relaxaurus', but is actually even harder to aim due to how wonky the camera is while using it on Jetragon’s back. Most of the people who build this only really want it so they canfinally ride Jetragon as a flying mountsince it flies so incredibly fast.

And lastly, let’s go over a few honorable mentions that also stun enemies with explosions but aren’t quite as viable as the other options above.First up is the water PalPengullet’s Cannon, the earliest available Pal Gear to create explosions inPalworld. Whilethe explosion this creates is huge and the damage can be pretty absurd, it only gets an honorable mention due to the fact that it can only be used once per Pengullet which sort of defeats the whole purpose of having a weapon to ‘stunlock’ an enemy.

Next up is an actual weapon that isn’t used by a Pal, theRocket Launcher. The amount of damage this thing does is honestly mindblowing, and it’s a lot of fun to use. However, it only gets an honorable mention as well due to how absurdly late into the game it’s unlocked, how difficult it is to consistently get ammo for it, and how long that reload animation is (even if you may roll-cancel through it).
