Overwatch 2will be making changes both big and small to its hero roster, with major reworks happening for characters so that they fit into the 5v5 setting. InOverwatch 2, Cassidy will see a major change to his flashbang and his appearance, but a visual change has also been made to his Ultimate ability.

This addition is similar toSombra’s new voice linewhere she makes fun of Pharah’s death yell, as it has no significant impact on the gameplay or Cassidy as a character. For those looking for some more impactful adjustments, Cassidy’s Flashbang has been swapped out with a Magnetic Grenade inOverwatch 2, an item that deals slight damage and tracks to enemies. It lacks the stun capabilities of the original Flashbang, ensuring that Cassidy can dish out more damage but will have less opportunities for easy headshots. Like all other Damage heroes, he will also move faster in the sequel, giving him a much-needed boost in terms of movement.

As for the small change to Cassidy’s Ultimate, Reddit user andOverwatchfan Faalund shared an image of Cassidy’s Deadeye Ultimate being used inOverwatch 2. This ability was already iconic for the “it’s high noon” callout, as it is one of the most memorable memes in theOverwatchcommunity. In the sequel, though, it looks a good bit flashier, asBlizzardhas added a glowing eye to Cassidy’s character model when he is using this ability. For those that play the hero, this glow should be familiar.

Normally, Cassidy’s body only glows red when he is using Deadeye, so this visual change makes it a bit clearer when the Ultimate is active. As for the reason it was made, Faalund pointed out that the Ultimate image for Deadeye features a glowing eye. Blizzard has put in the effort to make the use ofDeadeyemore accurate to what is seen in the image, at least from the enemy team’s perspective. This is a nice touch that should makeOverwatch 2feel a bit more polished than its predecessor.

Small changes like this are abundant inOverwatch 2. For instance,Zenyatta’s HUD has been reworkedto better show who is being healed and discorded, making it easier to track what is happening in a match. The HUD for all heroes has been simplified to have less visual clutter, too, making everything readable without much effort. Best of all,Overwatch 2features a ping system, making it easier to make callouts and work with teammates that are not communicating over a headset.

WhileCassidy’s hero redesignis a source of controversy, and many are still getting used to his name change, something like this should be unanimously praised. While it will have no real effect on gameplay, the glowing eye makes Deadeye look more intimidating and helps it match the ability’s image.
