One Piece1061 dropped recently and sawthe Straw Hat Piratesembark on a new adventure on a new island. This week’s chapter was expected to be way less intense than the last few ones as the crew was finally heading closer to a new island. Expectedly, it takes time for a new arc to build up the intensity. Oda usually spends time fleshing out the world building once the crew arrives at a new island.

One Piece1061 saw him do just that in quite an intriguing fashion. The crew managed to land safely on Egghead Island, which is the same place that the Navy was seen heading towardsafter the events of Amazon Lily concluded. Here, the Straw Hats are all set for a brand new adventure, and, at the same time, the fans will find out the answers to some of the biggest mysteries in the story.
Jewelry Bonney’s Fate
In the previous chapter, fans saw Jewelry Bonney makeher appearance after the war of Wano Countrywrapped up. Bonney is a member of the Worst Generation, just like Luffy and Zoro. However, she was barely focused on in the story up until this point. Somehow, Bonney had managed to sneak into the Holy Land of Mariejois, as seen during the Reverie arc. Now, it appears that she has made her way out of there safely. However, her journey eventually led to her getting stuck. Thanks to Zoro, Bonney was saved and Luffy immediately rushed to her rescue. Fans saw the two waking up on Egghead Island, where Bonney mentioned to Luffy that she is also a member of the Worst Generation.
The two don’t seem to have hit it off just yet, however, the likes of Jinbe, Chopper, and even Luffy don’t mind her being with them for the time being. After landing on the island, Bonney revealed that she has personal business with Vegapunk. This is likely to do with Kuma being turned into a Pacifista. As fans know, Kuma and Bonney are related to each other and both hail from the Sorbet Kingdom in the South blue. How Oda handles this going forward is due to be very interesting.
One Piece1061 gave fans the answer to one of the most intriguing questions that they had in their minds. The last island thatthe Straw Hat Piratesvisited without knowing where they would be going to was Punk Hazard. After that, the crew already knew that they would be heading to Dressrosa, which was planned by Law. Furthermore, the next destination of Zou, and then Whole Cake Island, which was followed by Wano were all decided before they even visited the places. There is a certain charm in the crew sailing on the sea and the fans not knowing where they would sail to next. The crew’s journey after Wano proved to be a breath of fresh air, in that sense.

Finally,One Piece1061 revealed that the crew landed on Egghead Island, the island of the future. Not much has been explored about the place just yet, however, there seem to be all sorts of robotic animals around. Bonney was attacked by a shark and it later went on to attack the Straw Hat Pirate crew as well. Causing their ship to capsize, the crew eventually washed a shore nearby. Luffy is currently with Jinbe, Chopper, and Bonney. Meanwhile, the rest of the crew was saved by a mysterious giant robot inside which was a woman who claimed to be the legendary Vegapunk.
Vegapunk’s Appearance
Fans have been waiting for Vegapunk’s appearance long before the time skip. After the Enies Lobby arc, Koby mentioned that it was thanks to Vegapunk that the marine ships were able to sail in the Calm Belt now. Shortly after, Thriller Bark gave fans another hint on Vegapunk when the Pacifista project was teased by Oda himself. This was followed by Sabaody Archipelago, where the crew, once again, was faced by the Pacifistas. These monsters were known to be work in progress and fans already knew that Vegapunk was someone very shrewd and had a mind for great inventions. Franky being sent to Bulgemore by Kuma was quite interesting as well as the island was created by Vegapunk himself. After the timeskip, Oda continued to drop bits of info about Vegapunk.
However, up until this point, he hadn’t revealed anything specific about this legendary scientist. Finally,One Piece1061 debuted the genius herself. Vegapunk appears to be a woman with her hair covering a side of her face, similar to Sanji. She claims to be the top scientist of the Navy and not an ally of the Straw Hat Pirates, despite saving them. Whether this truly is Vegapunk in her real body or not remains to be seen, however, going forward,One Pieceis going to dive deep into some of the biggest mysteries, such as the functioning of Devil Fruits,the Pacifista project, the Seraphim, and things of that sort.
