Summary
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3is already facing some heat thanks to the perceived lack of original content that it offers, with the game relying heavily on its predecessor as well as the maps of 2009’sModern Warfare 2. This has put immense pressure on the first in-game season of the release, which is set to introduce a variety of new game modes, maps, and more.
A lot of this content for Season One ofCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3has already been confirmed by Sledgehammer Games, with a lot of attention in particular being placed on the maps that the event will bring. One map, oddly called “Meat,” is already drawing a lot of attention, and is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated elements of the season. With the map developing a reputation due to its odd name and setting,Modern Warfare 3could really lean into this in the design of the map to create a more memorable and layered experience like theCoDmaps of old.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3: Season 1’s Meat Map Has a Lot of Potential
Season One ofCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3is expected to launch on December 6. Many regard it as the event that will really push the game into its own identity, allowing it to put last year’sModern Warfare 2firmly behind it. As things stand, this is all the currently confirmed content forModern Warfare 3’s Season One:
Not a lot of information is currently known abouttheMW3Meat map, but its outlandish presence has already been the subject of a lot of positive discussion. As the name suggests, Meat will take place in and around a slaughterhouse named East Bay Meats. Fans should expect a tight close-quarters experience with densely packed areas.

A slaughterhouse is one of the most uniquesettings that aCall of Dutymap has had in some time, and Sledgehammer Games should fully capitalize on this with some unique quirks within Meat. The map should really lean into some environmental features that players need to take into account, with meat hanging from hooks moving around the map on a conveyor belt being one example of how this could be handled. This would offer a dynamic element of moving cover that would periodically block and open up sight-lines, offering some high-octane strategy.
Modern Warfare 3 Could Honor CoD Heritage in Meat
Another fun twist that Meat could introduce is a freezer room located in a strategic position which could slow the movement of players within it, offering a risk and reward factor to holding such an advantageous spot. These kinds of map-specific hazards used to be a staple ofCall of Dutymultiplayer, withthe iconicBlack Opsmap Firing Rangehaving moving targets as one example.
This philosophy even appeared in 2022’sModern Warfare 2with the Crown Raceway maphaving cars that would periodically speed around the edges of the map, killing any players in its path.CoDhas strayed from these unique twists in recent years, and the upcoming Meat map is the perfect opportunity to pick up the slack.
