A veteranOverwatchplayer discovered one of their old Torbjorn play of the game clips, showing off the absurd power of the hero’s turret during the first few years of the game. Longtime fans ofOverwatchwill remember the different abilities that Torbjorn was capable of using before some of his changes, such as the armor packs that he could provide to teammates and the capability to upgrade his turret.
In fact, Torbjorn has been through more than a few changes over the years -more than most otherOverwatchheroes have. Other than just losing his ability to craft armor from collected scrap, Torbjorn’s Ultimate Ability even changed too. While Molten Core used to permit Torbjorn the chance to temporarily boost his turret to level 3 and gain a huge amount of extra health, it now allows him to spew molten lava over his foes instead.

The Reddit user mora_kylkee recently posted the clip to theOverwatchsubreddit, reminding many in the community just how overpowered his level 3 turret used to be. The play also prompted many to compare the older version ofOverwatchwiththe current state ofOverwatch 2, with some key differences being that of the old, open team structure that often resulted in teams mostly consisting of damage heroes.
The play itself is truly something to behold, showcasing Torbjorn raking up a team kill in seconds without even laying eyes on his opponents as his level 3 turret mows them down. The show doesn’t even stop there, as the Swedish engineer proceeds to claim another 5 kills as he wildly smacks his turret with his hammer to repair it.With Torbjorn’s turret no longer upgradeable in the present day, it goes without saying that it would be nearly impossible for the hero to achieve another clip like that inOverwatch 2.
While player opinions are divided as always onwhether the changes made to Torbjorn inOverwatch 2were for the better, most fans can at least agree that the character is a lot more tame nowadays. Some argue that the overpowered nature of his former turret led to players relying on it too much, making the hero very similar to the Engineer fromTeam Fortress 2in terms of gameplay. As a result of the changes made over time, Torbjorn now encourages players to utilize their gunplay skills a lot more.
Many players actually preferred when Torbjorn played as a turret-dependent engineer instead, arguing that despite the balancing issues, many of the abilities originally seen in the game allowed for more unhinged plays such as this one. WithBlizzard constantly making adjustments toOverwatch 2’s roster of heroes, who’s to say how Torbjorn may continue to evolve in the future of the game.
Overwatch 2is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
