Nearly two months have passed since Team Ninja last held a preview test forNioh 2. In that time, the developer has carefully sifted through all of the feedback it got from players who took part inNioh 2’s open beta, and this week it went into greater detail on how all that feedback will change the upcoming samurai action game.

Over the past few weeks, Team Ninja has been opening up on what it learned from the beta. It first started by revealing thatreception toNioh 2’s open beta was very positive, based on the results of a player survey that saw the game earn an overall score of 83%. As solid as that is, 83% still leaves plenty of room for improvement, and Team Ninja thinks so too. “Needless to say, we are combing through every facet of the game, sharpening every detail to ensure that the final product is battle-tested for your enjoyment,” said studio creative director Tom Lee.

On the PlayStation Blog, Lee specified which facets will be combed through ahead of the game’s launch in two month’s time. While the firstNiohestablished a challenging gameplay style reminiscent ofDark Souls, players found thatsome portions ofNioh 2’s beta“felt unreasonably difficult.” The studio will address that by adjusting the balance on a number of gameplay factors, including the strength of enemy actions and the severity of punishments received in the Dark Realm sections. Team Ninja is also working to adjust the balance of special moves to make them both stronger and easier to use.

These are just a few of the changes the studio is planning to implement, which include improvingNioh 2’s tutorial, enhancing the level design, beefing up the UI, and more. Lee laid it all out in full in the summary below:

That Team Ninja is being so open with fans and willing to listen to what they have to say isn’t a new thing for this franchise. The developer took the same approach with the first game, and the feedback from players back then helped tomakeNioha critical success. With that in mind, Team Ninja stands to very well earn another win with its sequel.

“It was a tremendous learning experience for us as we carefully examined you guys playing the demo,” Lee said in an address to the beta players. “We really appreciate the massive amount of responses submitted to our questionnaire after the play through. Our team has thoroughly read and reviewed everyone’s constructive feedback, and with that input we are working diligently towards fine-tuning the build for the final game.”
