A talented Nintendo fan has created a custom box art image for the upcomingSuper Mario Bros. Last week’s trailer highlighted the game’s four-player co-op play and colorful landscapes, and players will finally get to control the spunky Princess Daisy for the first time in a mainlineSuper Mariotitle.Super Mario Bros. Wonderwill alsogive Mario a new elephant formthat is already generating plenty of fan art online. Even as some fans worry that longtime Mario voice actor Charles Martinet has been replaced inSuper Mario Bros. Wonder, excitement for the next 2DMarioadventure remains high.

A Reddit user by the handle of Sr_Pozo recently posted their own custom box art for the game on r/Mario. Drawn in the style of Super NES titles like 1993’sSuper Mario All-Stars, this colorful and retro-inspired artwork features Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, and Toad as they embark on their latest platforming adventure. Many ofSuper Mario Bros. Wonder’s new power-upsare also on display, such as the aforementioned Elephant Mario, Luigi’s enlarged hat that seemingly functions as a parachute, and the Wonder Flower that can alter the world around the heroes in helpful ways.

As mentioned before,Super Mario Bros. Wonderis but one game in a power-packed line-up of promisingMariogames set to release over the coming year or so. The same Nintendo Direct that gave fans their first look atSuper Mario Bros. Wonderalso revealed a newWarioWaremicro-game collection, a long-hoped-forremake of the classicSuper Mario RPG,and even a new spin-off game starring Princess Peach.

These are all pretty exciting releases forSuper Mariofans, andSuper Mario Bros. Wonderlooks to spearhead this new wave of games by giving players some classic 2DMariogameplay with a few new twists and power-ups. In this spirit, Sr_Pozo’s SNES-inspiredSuper Mario Bros. Wonderbox art nicely captures the illustrated charm of Mario’s early 90s adventures while highlighting the new tricks the beloved plumber will bring to his next trek through the Mushroom Kingdom.
