Developed by one-man studio Cheesemaster Games,Spiritteawas partially funded by a successful Kickstarter campaign that saw it raise over CAD $19,400 in early 2020. Cheesemaster founder Dan Beckerton eventually enlisted the help of No More Robots, an indie publisher known as the distributor of unique RPGs and roguelike titles such asDescenders,Not Tonight,Nowhere Prophet, andYes, Your Grace. The publisher’s long-standing partnership with Microsoft ostensibly led toSpiritteabeing confirmed as a day one Xbox Game Pass releasein December 2022.
Spiritteais now finally set to reach Xbox Game Pass on Monday, November 13, at 8 AM PT. Apart from Microsoft’s subscription service, the indie management sim will also debut on Steam, Nintendo Switch, and the Microsoft Store. The hundreds of people who helped crowdfundSpiritteain 2020 should have already received their promo codes for the game via email as of November 11. According to the management sim’s original Kickstarter campaign, its initial release will be followed by Android and iOS ports. Beckerton previously said that a PS4 version ofSpirittearemains a possibility, but has yet to officially confirm its PlayStation port.
