Summary

Nintendo has finally added M-rated games to theNintendo Switch Onlineservice, and that meansConker’s Bad Fur Daycould potentially join the lineup at some point. At the latest Nintendo Direct event, Nintendo surprise-dropped four new additions to theSwitch Onlinelineup, specifically those signed up for the service’s Expansion Pack tier.

Now thatNintendo has added M-rated games to Switch Online, it opens the door to the possibility of other M-rated titles to join the lineup as well. There weren’t many M-rated games released for the Nintendo 64 over the course of the console’s lifespan, but one of the most notable was Rare’sConker’s Bad Fur Day. Starring an alcoholic, foul-mouthed squirrel,Conker’s Bad Fur Dayis a parody of the 3D platformer genre and various movies that were popular at the time of its release. The game was critically-acclaimed and is often pointed to as one of the Nintendo 64’s best, so it would be great to see it eventually make its way to the Switch Online Expansion Pack.

List of M-Rated Switch Online Games

Conker’s Bad Fur Day hasn’t been added to the Switch Online Expansion Pack, but the game is playable on modern Xbox consoles through Rare Replay.

With M-rated games now on the Switch Online Expansion Pack, one major hurdle is cleared forConker’s Bad Fur Dayto one day join the lineup. The other hurdle may potentially be cleared without too much trouble as well. As it so happens,Conker’s Bad Fur Dayis owned by Microsoft, and has been ever since the company acquired developer Rare. In most situations, this would make it next to impossible forConkerto come to a non-Microsoft platform, but Xbox and Nintendo have a solid working relationship, and in fact, multiple Rare games are already on the service.

Indeed,Perfect Darkwas developed by Rare, and it’s one of the first M-rated games to join the Switch Online Expansion Pack lineup. So, if a deal is worked out between Nintendo and Xbox, like with the other Rare-developed games on Switch Online, there’s really no reason whyConker’s Bad Fur Daycouldn’t follow inPerfect Dark’s footsteps. BesidesConker’s Bad Fur Day, it would be great to see other missing Rare games added to Switch Online as well, asBanjo-Tooie,Diddy Kong Racing,Donkey Kong 64, andMickey’s Speedway USAhave yet to make their debuts either.

WHERE TO PLAY

Conker’s Bad Fur Day was developed by Rare and was released in 2001, a time when mascot platformers were flooding the market. As such, when people saw the front cover of Conker’s Bad Fur Day in stores, they assumed it would just be another wholesome platform game. However, Conker’s Bad Fur day is a hilarious satire of platform games that is full of adult humor and innuendo.
