Summary

Diablo 4has received its latest patch for the ongoing Season of the Malignant, addressing a variety of feedback from players. Season of the Malignant is still less than a week old, but the first post-launch content drop forDiablo 4has already become hugely controversial. Blizzard made dramatic changes to theDiablo 4experience with its patch for the season and has promised significant changes going forward. This new patch won’t addressDiablo 4players' largest concerns, but does fix some smaller problems.

TheSeason of the Malignant isDiablo 4’s first post-launch content release. It introduces a new questline surrounding former priest Cormond and the spread of a corruption referred to as the Malignant, a mechanic allowing players to wield powerful Malignant Hearts, a boss named Varshan the Consumed, and a battle pass packed with cosmetics and progression systems. A balance patch that many allege slows down progression inDiablo 4was also released, which Blizzard has acknowledged has issues.

Update 1.1.0c forDiablo 4has now been rolled out and addresses a variety of concerns stemming from the release of the Season of the Malignant update. No substantial changes have been made, but many notable issues that have received attention in theDiablo 4community have been fixed. For example, a confirmation pop-up will now trigger afterclicking the Premium Battle Pass button, for those with a free activation.

Another choice example of Blizzard responding to player feedback from the latestDiablo 4update has to do with thecolor of Druids' fur when in Werebear or Werewolf form. After the patch, the color of Druids' fur shifted to be much brighter and more accurate to a player character’s hair color. The new fix tones down the fur brightness. Werebears will hopefully not stand out in a crowd anymore.

A dozen changes were made in total. Other fixes include bugs tied toMalignant Heart powersand their interactions with certain skills, like Dark Dance and Punishing Speed powers, as well as the Agitated Winds heart and Cyclone Armor. There was also an exploit allowing players to complete a Season Journey Objective by dropping and picking up a Whispering Tree cache over and over that has been fixed.

It’s going to take time for Blizzard to address larger criticisms of the Season of the Malignant patch. AplannedDiablo 41.1.1 patchis going to revert some changes, buff Sorcerer and Barbarian, and increase monster density in Nightmare Dungeons and Helltides. The patch released today addresses much smaller problems that Blizzard was able to fix in a week. Blizzard will hopefully continue rolling out quality-of-life updates as it works towardDiablo 41.1.1.
