Disney Plus released a trailer for the spin-off TV seriesNational Treasure: Edge of History, starring Lisette Olivera as Jess Morales, Harvey Keitel as Peter Sadusky, and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. The trailer was revealed during the D23 expo as the latest installment in the iconicNational Treasureseries.

This is the first glimpse ofnewNational Treasurecontentsince Nicolas Cage starred as Benjamin Franklin Gates in the first twoNational Treasuremovies back in 2004 and 2007. Cage has yet to confirm an appearance in theDisney Plusseries.

As announced in theNational Treasure: Edge of Historytrailer, the two-episode premiere is expected to air on December 14th, 2022. The plot appears to be similar to the original movie series, as Morales embarks on a journey with her friends to discover the truth about a long-lost treasure that her father was searching for. The trailer also revealed the supporting cast around Morales, including Catherine Zeta-Jones as Billie Pearce, Zuri Reed as Tasha, Antonio Cipriano as Oren, and Jake Austin Walker as Liam. Additionally,Justin Bartha will return as Riley Poole, who he played in the original movie series. The sarcastic computer programming best friend of Gates was revealed at the very end of the trailer.

It is unclear how theNational TreasureTV series will relate to the movie series, but it appears that the show will take place in the same cinematic universe. Near the end of the trailer, Morales and her treasure-hunting friend group found Benjamin Franklin’s glasses, an artifact used by Gates to read the hidden message on the Declaration of Independence in the firstNational Treasure.

Fans should expect a well-acted viewing experience thanks to the solid casting choices. The cast contains a good mix of young, up-and-coming actors alongside experienced veterans. Harvey Keitel’s esteemed acting career spans 55 years, where he’s starred in a number of cult classic films and was nominated for an Academy Award in 1992.Zeta-Jones also anchors the castwith over 40 years of acting experience, including an Academy Award win and two Golden Globe Award nominations.

With film titan Bruckheimer as executive producer, fans can expect nothing less than top-tier action production. Bruckheimer produced theNational Treasurefilm series along with a number of hit action films,includingPirates of the Caribbean,Bad Boys, andTop Gunjust to name a few. Only time will tell ifNational Treasure: Edge of Historylives up to the hype, but regardless, fans can be cautiously optimistic based on the high-quality cast and production crew.
