Mortal Kombat 11fans have requested the beloved horror icon, Ash Williams, from Sam Raimi’sEvil Deadfilm series to join the cast ofMortal Kombat 11for a long time. This was coming off the introduction of guest horror earlier in theMortal Kombatseries, which included the likes of theAlienfranchise’s Xenomorph andThe Nightmare on Elm Street’s Freddy Krueger.

It seemed that their dream was about to come true when dataminers found evidence of scripted dialogue between Ash and the game’s characters. Sadly, after over a year of teases and leaks, it seems like Ash will not be coming toMortal Kombat 11.

Mortal Kombat 11modder and dataminer “the tiny” on Twitter mentioned that after looking through the data for the newly releasedMortal Kombat 11: Aftermathexpansion “Ash has been removed completely from the game’s files, and there are no other DLC characters.” Implying that any evidence that Ash would be joining the game’s roster has been completely wiped from the game’s files, meaning it is very unlikely we will be seeing the character appear in the game any time soon.

Evidence of Ash joining theMortal Kombat 11roster first appeared in April 2019, the month the game first released, when dataminers found scripted dialogue between the character and then to-be-announced DLC characters such as Spawn and The Joker. A few months later, after the game’s first Kombat Pack was revealed (which did not include Ash),a notification appeared in-gamementioning Ash as a member of the game’s first wave of DLC. Later, Ash’s actor, Bruce Campbell, took to Twitter to deny the rumors of theEvil Deadprotagonist joining the game’s roster.

While there has been much speculation as to why NetherRealm has never confirmed Ash,despite the mounting evidencethat he was intended to join the game, the likely scenario is that the complicated licensing behind the character caused the team to have to cancel his appearance. While Bruce Campbell has continued to refute rumors and speculation of the character’s inclusion, claiming his agent has never been contacted by NetherRealm, there is always the possibility that the character never got far enough into development for Campbell to provide voice work for him.

There has been much speculation as to when or if NetherRealm will announce a second Kombat Pack forMortal Kombat 11, but nothing has been confirmed so far, yet given thethiny’s comments, it seems unlikely that there are any plans for Ash to joinMortal Kombat 11’s roster going forward.
