Summary

Microsoft has unveiled three newXbox Series X/Smodels that will go on sale later this year alongside the existing lineup. The company confirmed earlier this year that it would offer updates on newXboxhardware coming in 2024 at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 9. While fans expected only a Series X revision to be discussed, the actual announcement was bigger than anticipated.

2024 will mark four years since the launch of the Xbox Series X and Series S. Launched simultaneously in holiday 2020, the current-gen Xbox consoles offer a considerable jump in power over their predecessor, the Xbox One. However, the strategy of launching two SKUs at launch was a bit of a gamble on Microsoft’s end, with the lower-powered discless Series S positioned as the budget option, whereas the Series X is the full-fledged premium option. TheXbox Series X/S haven’t sold as well as the PS5, but Microsoft seemingly remains confident in the systems.
