Summary

Marvel Snap’s recent crossover withMarvel’s Midnight Sunsbrought a variety of new tarot card-themed variants to the shop based on collectibles found in-game for players to purchase. This collaboration marked the first timeMarvel Snaphas crossed over with another Marvel game, and it seemed like the choice to collaborate withMarvel’s Midnight Sunswas a match made in heaven. However, while these tarot card variants are great, it was a missed opportunity not to go all-in on the crossover potential and feature even moreMidnight Suns-themed content than just tarot card variants.

With all the differentMarvel games recently released likeMarvel’s Spider-Man 2or in development like EA Motive’sIron Mangame,Marvel Snap has tons of potential crossover content just waiting to be capitalized on. As a card-based strategy RPG,Marvel’s Midnight Sunswas the perfect candidate forMarvel Snapto team up with, and its in-game collectible tarot cards were an obvious choice forMarvel Snapvariants. Even outside these tarot card variants, there is a lot more toMarvel’s Midnight Sunsthat could have been used for new content inMarvel Snapduring the game’s Bloodstone season.

Marvel Snap’s Midnight Suns Collaboration Could Have Been So Much More

Although manyMarvel Snapplayers were excited about the tarot card variants, there are additional waysMidnight Sunscould have been represented inMarvel Snapfor this crossover. Player avatars would have been an easy way to give more love to these tarot card artworks, andMarvel Snapcould have included one for each tarot card variant. While the bundle that featured Magik’s tarot card variant did include an avatar of the same artwork, more variants should have gotten the same treatment so that players could show off their favorite card’s tarot variant in their profile.

The tarot card collectibles may have been one fan-favorite aspect ofMidnight Suns, but the game could have also inspired other variants forMarvel Snapbeyond just these tarot card variants. Each of the playable heroes inMidnight Sunscould have had a variant inMarvel Snapbased on their artwork for the game and feature the character in their Midnight Suns suit. This would giveMarvel Snap’s Nico Minoru, Blade, Magik, Ghost Rider, Captain America, Captain Marvel, Iron Man, Hulk, Doctor Stange, Spider-Man, Wolverine, Scarlet Witch, Deadpool, Morbius, Venom, and Storm cards their own unique variant as playable characters inMidnight Suns.

Marvel Snapcould have gone a step further beyond simple cosmetics based onMidnight Sunsand introduced new cards for the Bloodstone season based on characters from the game that are not yet represented. Characters like The Hunter, Caretaker, and even Lilith could have been perfect additions toMarvel Snapand given players even more of a reason to check outMidnight Sunsto learn more about them. While Nico Minoru is making her first appearance inMarvel Snapthis season, adding aMidnight Sunsoriginal character like The Hunterwould have been an even better way to celebrate this collaboration.

This crossover should have also gone both ways as well and featured someMarvel Snap-related items inMidnight Suns. Although new content updates forMidnight Suns have ended with the release of theStorm DLC, it would have been nice to see some small additions fromMarvel Snapbe added in a minor update for players to check out. Simple things like a deck ofMarvel Snapcards as a gift the player can give to heroes during a hangout or specialMarvel SnapInfinity borders for cards in players’Midnight Sunsdecks would have been a nice nod to the collaboration withMarvel Snap.
