Warning - This article delves into some of the main plot points ofMarvel’s Spider-ManandMarvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales.Though the entireMarvel’s Spider-Man 2rogues gallery is still up in the air for those not working on it, the public knows that fan-favorite character Venom will be making his first appearance in the franchise. The yin to Spider-Man’s yang,Venom shares a lot of the spider-based hero’s superpowers, with the addition of a few more. It’s no wonder then that even with his much younger relationship with the Wall-Crawler (Venom was introduced as a character in 1988), Venom still stands strong as one of Spider-Man’s most notorious foes.
But before Venom became bonded to different Earth-based hosts, its first introduction to the human race was through Spider-Man. Both Peter Parker and Miles Morales have worn the Venom symbiote in the comics at one time or another, but this is the first time the two are going up against the villain in Insomniac Games' universe. The likelihood that one or both of the Spider-Men will don the symbiote is quite high inMarvel’s Spider-Man 2, but it pays to look at what the Venom symbiote looks for in a host and how each Spider-Man can fulfill its desires.

What Is The Venom Symbiote Attracted To?
As an alien being, the Venom symbiote amplifies its host’s strength and negative emotions. As such, it prefers another with these characteristics already present. Both Peter Parker and Miles Morales are plenty strong and both possesscertain powers that are unique to each Spider-Man. What’s more, each of them has gone through difficult, life-altering experiences that would make a less morally-aligned person choose the wrong path. What makes the Spider-Men enticing hosts to Venom is that underneath all that heroism is a good measure of pain, regret, and anger.
What Are The Chances Peter Parker Gets Venomized?
Being the original Spider-Man and the star of the first game, there is a very high chance that Peter will end up wearing the Venom symbiote. His relationship withHarry Osborn, who was last seen suspended in a water tankin Norman Osborn’s lab covered in what looks like the Venom symbiote, is a deeply personal one rooted in a long-standing friendship. This relationship could be a key component in the sequel that connects Spider-Man to one of his new foes.
The Peter inMarvel’s Spider-Manalso carries some pretty heavy burdens. Aside from the death of Uncle Ben, Peter now has to live as an orphan after the death of Aunt May. While he knows he did the right thing by saving most of New York from the Devil’s Beath fiasco, he still carries that guilt of not using the cure to save his surrogate mother. Peter also feels remorse for some of his enemies, particularly Mr. Negative and Dr. Octopus. Both Martin Lee and Otto Octavius were close friends of Peter, and he undoubtedly thinks twice whenever he has to fight them. Apart from the close people he constantly puts in danger and the enemies he had a hand in creating, Peter tends to feel guilty whenever he fails to save someone in need.

Since the Venom symbiote amplifies its host’s dark thoughts, it could be drawn toPeter’s strength as well as his emotions. It could drive Spider-Man to permanently end his enemies and push away those he loves in a quest for power. Peter might eventually find a way to rid himself of the symbiote, but his first few encounters with it will be met with a good degree of curiosity and excitement.
What Are The Chances Miles Morales Gets Venomized?
Even though he is much younger and inexperienced than Peter Parker, Miles Morales has more than proven himself to be a capable Spider-Man.He saved New York from both Roxxon and the Undergroundand even put a stop to Simon Kreiger, the Prowler, and the Tinkerer. While the death of Phin Mason weighs heavily on Miles' heart, he was able to honor her sacrifice and become a better Spider-Man.
Just like Peter,Miles carries his own bag of painthat the Venom symbiote can draw from. His guilt over Phin’s death is a big one, but Miles also carries the unease of being related to Aaron Davis, also known as the Prowler. What’s more, constantly working alongside Peter can make Miles feel like an inferior Spider-Man, something he has admitted to inMarvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. The Venom Symbiote could provide Miles with the power he needs to rise above his problems but at a negative cost.

It Could Be Any Spider-Man’s Game At This Point
Honestly, the chances of one or both Spider-Men becoming infected with the Venom symbiote are equally high. Starting a Venom story without a Spider-Man succumbing to his darker side just seems wrong and would sidestep a lot of storytelling opportunities. The black symbiote suit that Spider-Man wears has also been long-requested by fans, andseeing Insomniac Games' takeon this iconic costume is more than enough reason to get excited about the sequel.Marvel’s Spider-Man 2will undoubtedly be darker than past games, and hopefully Venom brings out the meaner side of these Spider-Men.
