Lost Arkmay have only recently launched in the United States, but it has been available in South Korea for a much longer time. It was originally released in 2019, meaning that the Amazon-localized version ofLost Arkhas been polished with over two years of updates. It’s no surprise then thatLost Arkhas proven to be massively successful, but that also doesn’t mean it’s without its flaws. Western game players are remarkably vocal with their criticism and their latest focus is a frustrating user interface element inLost Ark.
A popular thread shared within theLost Arkcommunity on Reddit brings attention to a frustrating UI element. WhenLost Arkplayers acquire items, even in the midst of combat, the notification for the items picked up is displayed just to the right of the character. It’s intended to convey that the user picked up the item they clicked on as they clicked on it. However, the negative consequence of this is that the notifications can block a player’s view of incoming enemies and their actions.

The Reddit thread is asking developer Smilegate, or rather for thewestern publisher Amazonto convey to Smilegate, that the issue needs to be fixed. Players want the notifications to be displayed in a different place on the screen, or for there to be an option to remove the notifications entirely.
What the Reddit poster and those that upvoted it may not have known is thatSmilegatehas already addressed the issue. In a patch issued on Tuesday, Smilegate introduced an option inLost Ark’s settings that allows players to shift the found items notifications away from the center of the screen. Instead, the notifications will be moved to the right of the screen. Additionally, the notifications can be shrunk further by having the text associated with them removed, so only each item’s icon is displayed.
ThatLost Arkupdate is, unfortunately, only available for theSouth Korean version of the MMO. Smilegate isn’t able to directly deliver updates to the western versions ofLost Ark, as everything must go through Amazon first. That’s not to say Amazon won’t deliver the update to westernLost Arkplayers as it’s able. A timeframe for these types of situations simply hasn’t been established yet.
With the introduction ofmillions of players toLost Arkdue to the MMO’s western launch, there’s going to be a diverse range of feedback for both Amazon and Smilegate to consider. In this case, it seems that Smilegate was ahead of the curve. It just goes to show that feedback does help improve games, so long as the developer is listening.
