Summary
TheLife Is Strangeseries is one of the most popular of the last decade. There are three main games and one prequel game, and all of these are filled with characters who are both flawed and loveable at the same time. They’re also filled with incredibly smart characters from a wide range of backgrounds who can either help or hurt the player, sometimes depending on the player’s choices.
From the more academically-minded to the characters who know how to talk to people and have vital social intelligence, there are a lot of contenders for the smartest character in the whole series.

7David Madsen (Life Is Strange)
The unlikable Madsen is surprisingly intelligent
David Madsen was a largely hated character when he was first introduced in the opening episode ofLife Is Strange. He’sangry, mean, controlling, and seems to have an issue with everything Max and Chloe do. He mostly puts his brain to work harassing Blackwell students and putting up security cameras in his own house. Luckily, later in the game, he manages to redeem himself even if players completely antagonize him, as he ends up saving the day. It’s clear he’s a very smart man, even if the way he acts for the majority of the game is unsavory at best.
David Madsen may not be the most liked character in the world, but he’s definitely not stupid.

6Steph Gingrich (Life Is Strange: True Colors)
Steph’s sharp mind comes in handy
Steph Gingrich quickly became a fan favorite when she first appeared as an earnest Dungeons and Dragons nerd inLife Is Strange: Before The Storm. So, it was no surprise that she reappeared, but this time inLife Is Strange: True Colors. In both games, she is sharp and witty, but her true intelligence comes through in the latter game. Her help in solving the main mystery of True Colors is invaluable, and she isalways on the side of the player.
Steph is both well-loved and intelligent, making her one of the most well-rounded characters in the franchise.

5Sean Diaz (Life Is Strange 2)
Sean becomes smarter and more resourceful on the road
When players meet Sean Diaz at the start ofLife Is Strange 2,he seems like every average creative teenager, and seems overall unremarkable. When the game’s story begins, though, he becomes something else entirely. As players work through the grand road trip Sean and Daniel take in the game, Sean becomes smarter and learns more about the world around him. He uses his brain to protect Daniel and ensure they survive another day.
Sean Diaz has incredible growth from a whiny teenager to a smart and brave man.

4Alex Chen (Life Is Strange: True Colors)
After the grief, her true intelligence shines
Alex Chenis the protagonist ofLife Is Strange: True Colors, and after a life in foster care, she finally arrives in a new home at the beginning of the game. The first episode sets up her love for her brother and her yearning for a home before the unthinkable happens. After this event, Alex kicks her life into gear and starts digging into some of the shady history of the town of Haven while also using her empathy-based powers to help the townspeople.
With a lot on her plate, Alex uses her intelligence to solve a grand mystery and integrates herself into a community despite losing her family in the process.

3Rachel Amber (Life Is Strange)
Golden child Rachel Amber has a lot of smarts
Rachel Amber is talked about so much inLife Is Strangethat by the time players meet her inLife Is Strange: Before The Storm, she has already achieved legend status. In this game, players see through the stories about Rachel and learn about the real her: this includes just how smart she is. Throughout the game, her intelligence saves both herself and Chloe from trouble, whether that be trivial school trouble or more serious issues later in the game.
Rachel Amber is smart both academically and socially, as seen inLife Is Strange: Before The Storm.

2Warren Graham (Life Is Strange)
Blackwell’s resident science nerd
Warren Graham is an average, cringy teenage boy who is one of Max’s best friends inLife Is Strange. He fits every nerdy stereotype yet still ends up being loveable. His intelligence is obvious from the first interactions with him in the game, but the best moment of his brainpower is when he helps Max build an explosive device to open a locked door. He understands the science behind everything and is eager to put that knowledge to use.
While Warren may not be the most socially intelligent character, his sheer academic knowledge is enough to make him one of the smartest characters in the whole franchise.

1Chloe Price (Life Is Strange)
Her punk exterior hides a brilliant mind
Finally, the smartest character in theLife Is Strangeseries is Max’sbest friend, Chloe Price. When players first meet her, she seems like a burnout punk kid with no smarts whatsoever. However, as players get to know her, this is proven wrong. Chloe is a science nerd, which definitely comes as a surprise considering everything else about her. As she and Max get closer to solving the mystery of the first game, her general smarts become more obvious. Chloe helps uncover some of the major clues in the story and even saves Max a couple of times along the way.
Chloe Price is one of the most loved characters in gaming, and despite her harsh exterior there’s a lot more to her than what meets the eye.
