Star Wars Jedi: Survivoris pleasing a lot of fans and critics right now with the aggregates falling in the 80s on Metacritic. The only exception is PC players who are having a bumpy ride right now, but hopefully, things will get better for them after some patches. As great as it is to see this game doing so well for EA and Respawn Entertainment, one can’t help but think about the what-ifs.

For example, what if EA stepped aside and Disney allowed some of the best Japanese developers to take a crack at the Star Wars franchise instead? Could they make a game just as good, or better, thanStar Wars Jedi: Survivor? Here are but a few notable companies that might be worthy of such a momentous task.
8Atlus
Atluscould make a great game in this universe. There are two eras they could set it in. One, the Old Republic era when Jedi thrived on the vine, or a future setting after Rey presumably picks up the mantle of and starts training Jedi again.
The overall idea is to create aPersona-style game wherein young Padawan will attend classes, go on dates, and go on missions for training. That’s why these two eras are important because there needs to be some sort of Jedi establishment around unless the game instead centers on an Imperial Academy which could also work.

7Capcom
Capcomhas a lot of great series under its belt. A horror-themedStar Warsgame would be interesting for theResident Evilteam, but it’s hard to imagine this universe using horror well. TheDevil May Cryteam could step up the action for theStar Wars Jediseries, but the combat is already good in those.
So, the wild idea instead is for Capcom to create aMonster Huntergame. Set the game on one planet with a nomadic race of people without much technology involved. The game could even dive into Wookiee territory.

6FromSoftware
TheStar WarsJedi franchise borrows a lot from the Soulslikes of the world. So, who better to make another game in this series thanFromSoftware? They could go all in on their classic mechanics as bothStar Wars Jedigames don’t go hard enough.

Surely there are old castles in the vast universe ofStar Warsthat the game could be set in. That would be theDark Soulsroute but FromSoftware could also go with an open-world experience akintoElden Ring.
5Koei Tecmo
Koei Tecmo, specifically their Omega Force division, should get this license post-haste. It’s amazing that they haven’t been given the mantle before since there have been so many other high-profile spinoffs toDynasty Warriors.
ThePersonaseries got one viaPersona 5 StrikersandThe Legend of Zeldafans have been treated to twoHyrule Warriorsgames. There are moments ofStar Wars Jedi: Survivorthat feels like aDynasty Warriorsgame whenever players mow down dozens of Battle Droids, which is why Koei Tecmo came to mind.

4Kojima Productions
Imagine how wild a game by Hideo Kojima could be via hisKojima Productionsstudio. What genre would he turn the game into? Since Kojima has worked primarily in the stealth genre viaMetal Gear Solid, a stealth action within Star Wars sounds promising.
Set it in either the original trilogy or the new trilogy and have agents within each rebellion go on missions to infiltrate the villains. A game about the team that stole the Death Star plans would have been interesting if Disney didn’t already makeRogue One, but surely Kojima has other ideas.

3Konami
Konamibarely makes games anymore, but if they were given this license, rest assured they would jump at the opportunity. Leave the stealth-based gameplay to Kojima and instead make a Star Warsgame based onCastlevania. BothStar WarsJedi games are Metroidvanias already.

Players gain new Force powers or equipment to unlock new pathways like a Metroidvania. Make this a small downloadable game and trap Cal or some other protagonist in one location. Perhaps Konami could even resurrect the Boba Fett idea forStar Wars 1313.
2Nintendo
Nintendohas not received a newStar Warsgame in quite some time. They deserve some love too and have plenty of killer studios for Disney to take advantage of. One of the cooler ideas could come out of Intelligent Systems which primarily works on theFire Emblemseries.
They could make a tactical RPG which would be great to see in any of these movie trilogies. Imagine amassing a Clone battalion to take on Battle Droids or a Rebel army to take on the Empire. The game could even allow players to choose a side for some alternate history shenanigans.

1Square Enix
Ever since Disney acquired the license to Star Wars,Square Enixfans have been dreaming of seeing Luke, Han, or any of their other favorite characters show up inKingdom Hearts. The same goes for Marvel heroes. WillKingdom Hearts 4include either of those franchises? It’s hard to say but fingers are crossed.
That’s one hope, but additionally, Square Enix should attempt to make an originalStar Warsgame. There are plenty of action games in the series already, so Square Enix should go theclassicFinal Fantasyroute and create a turn-based RPG with a Job system. That’s also the genre Atlus should strive for, but Square Enix doesn’t need any of the simulation elements.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivorwas released on July 30, 2025, and is available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
