The continued success of James Bond was likely a key motivation when Amazon bought MGM last year for north of $8 billion dollars, with the purchase recently made official. Now, Amazon is already bringing James Bond to the small screen—but in the form of a globetrotting reality game show.
WithNo Time to Diereleasing last October to critical acclaim and strong box office, audiences have taken the intermittent period between that film and the next 007 film to speculate onwho could play the next James Bond. Furthermore, the film had ramifications in Hollywood, as Ana de Armas’s fan-favorite Bond girl, Paloma, who appeared briefly inNo Time to Diebut quickly earned the hearts of fans, likely inspired theJohn Wickteam to cast her in a John Wick spinoff titledBallerina.

Per Variety, the James Bond-themed reality show,007’s Road to a Million, will be a similar competition show toThe Amazing Race, as it tasks its contestants (who compete in duos) to race each other through various locations on the globe.The James Bond serieswill consist of eight episodes, which are slated to begin production later this year. Casting is currently underway, and Bond fans are currently able tosubmit their applications.
The outlet’s sources says the James Bond series has been in the works at Amazon for years, even before the MGM deal was complete. As such, the reality show is said to be separate from any projects that stem from said deal. James Bond isn’t the only intellectual property to get a modern game show adaptation.Peacock’s game show edition ofFrogger, which debuted last September, tasks its contestants with jumping across an obstacle course. Amazon is continuing to develop other exciting series, as the streamer is considering making a series based on Sony’sGod of Warfranchise.
