The Disney Plus original seriesIronhearthas added a brand-new actor to its growing cast in the form of newcomer Harper Anthony.
News ofMarvel Studios’Ironheartsurfaced during Disney’s 2020 Investor Day presentation, and the show will center around Riri Williams, an inventor who constructs her own piece of suited armor to follow in the emblematic footsteps of Tony Stark’s Iron Man. The character debuted in 2016, emerging from writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Mike Deodato. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announced that Dominique Throne would be suiting up as the breakout teenage genius, who will make her first appearance in the MCU inBlack Panther: Wakanda Forever, which Throne finished shooting in March. It’s unknown what Throne’s role in the highly-awaited sequel will be, but it looks like the launching pad for the eventual Disney Plus series.

Per The Wrap, Anthony will joinIronheartin an undisclosed role. The 9-year-old entrepreneur dabbles in many areas in the entertainment world but looks to make an incredible leap in this newly acquired role. Anthony’s resume includes a recurring role on an independent series titledVulture Cityand stints as a co-star on NBC’s seriesChicago Med. In addition, the young actor is currently in a new film titledCity of Vultures, available on most streaming platforms, including Apple TV. Anthony has equally dabbled in commercial appearances and music, butIronheartlooks to be a chance for the up-and-coming star to become a household name.
In the Heightsstar Anthony Ramosalso sits in a role coated in secrecy, with no developments surfacing around his position in the series. Ramos' inclusion inIronheartwas reported in February, but Marvel Studios has remained distant from comments regarding his mystery role. In addition,This Is Usstar Lyric Ross emerged as a new member of the cast in February, but her role in the show is also under tight security. The common theme with this series is the mystery that lingers above it, but it further propels anticipation for what is to come from the MCU narrative.
Ironheartjoins a long list of MCU projects slated to hit the Disney Plus streaming platform. No official release date for the series has emerged, so it’s unclear when Riri Williams will make her standalone appearance. Luckily, the MCU has material to hold audiences over.Moon Knight, which premiered March 30th, is currently streaming on the platform and has garnered excellent reviews thus far. The Oscar Isaac-led series is only the beginning for Marvel Studios, which looks to releaseShe-Hulk,Ms. Marvel, and other notable narratives throughout the calendar year. In addition, audiences will have the upcomingDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnessfilm to immerse themselves in as the story looks to propel the next phase of the MCU.
Ironheartis gaining steam, but the cloud of secrecy surrounding the series prevents knowledge around the narrative from surfacing. More will emerge once filming begins and others members of the cast surface, which most likely won’t happen untilBlack Panther: Wakanda Foreverarrives later this year. The addition of Anthony to the star-studded cast creates some early excitement, but it will be interesting to see the role he and others play in the story. Throne will appear as Williams intheBlack Panthersequel, hopefully unearthing the mystery tucked away regarding the developing series.
