Summary

Intel Core i9-14900KF CPU has been spotted on a popular benchmarking website hinting at some of the specifications that can be expected from the SKU. The Core i9-14900KF does not have an integrated GPU like the Core i9-14900K which in some cases works better as PC gamers already have dedicated GPUs. The listing shows a 24-core 32-thread configuration that is expected to include 8 Performance cores (P-cores) and 16 Efficiency cores (E-cores). Intel is expected to launch its Raptor Lake Refresh 14th Gen desktop CPUs on October 17.

Intel is working on a bunch of new desktop and mobile CPUs that will be launching this year and early next year. The next generation of desktop CPUs, dubbed Raptor Lake Refresh, will bring six SKUs which include the Core i9-14900K, Core i7-14700K, and Core i5-14600K, along with their iGPU-less KF counterparts. Compared to the 13th Gen lineup, the Raptor Lake Refresh SKUs bring minor improvements which was quite disappointing to fans who were waiting for a true generational leap in performance.

The Core i9-14900KF is expected to be one of the CPU models that will arrive this year. This SKU has beenlisted on the Geekbench benchmarking website, hinting at some of the specifications. The CPU has been tested on an ASRock Z790 Taichi motherboard, and it comes with 24 cores and 32 threads. The base clock speed is listed as 3.2 GHz while the maximum clock speed is listed at 5935 MHz. As for the scores, there are a few listings for the Core i9-14900KF that range from 2412 to 3347 in single-core tests and from 22895 to 26972 in multi-core tests.

These scores reinforce the fact that the new 14th-generation CPUs willonly bring minor performance improvementsover the previous generation. The performance of the Core i9-14900KF is about 12% better in single-core performance and about 5% to 6% better in multi-core performance compared to the Core i9-13900K. It should be noted that Intel has not shared the official specifications for its Raptor Lake Refresh lineup, so these numbers should be taken with a grain of salt.

The Intel Core i9 is Intel’s 13th generation Raptor Lake flagship processor. It promises exceptional gaming performance in addition to excellent benchmark results for a wide slew of tasks. The 24-core, 32-thread processor tends to handle these with ease while offering PCI-E 4.0/5.0 compatibility with the 700 series motherboards it works with in addition to working with 12th generation motherboards which share the same socket.

The company is hosting its Innovations 2023 event on September 19 and 20. It is expected to share more details on its Raptor Lake Refresh desktop CPUs and Meteor Lake mobile CPUs at the event. Furthermore,a report recently statedthat a sales and review embargo for October 17 has been set by Intel, suggesting the new lineup will be available for purchase from October 17, and that is also when the reviews will come out. There is also an ad embargo until October 16 which is when the company is expected to share more details about availability.

As for Meteor Lake mobile CPUs, Intel is usingon-package LPDDR5X memorysimilar to what Apple does with its M1 and M2 chips. Meteor Lake CPUs are based on the Foveros packaging technology that allows the company to stack chiplets on top of a unifying base die with a Foveros interconnect. Intel is already using this technology in its Ponte Vecchio and Rialto Bridge GPUs.
